Columbus Day Poems

Poems to Celebrate Columbus Day

Chad R. Herman
Christopher

If I told you
to go west, and you
kind of went

south, then north,
then west and
finally a little east. And
after this meandering you
arrived,

arrived, landed, invaded this
place you had found-
and set up,
started,
began
the total euthinasation,
the total annihilation
of an entire
race - Do
you think you
deserve a national holiday?

Oh, Chris

"I'm happy to report I
found a land of happiness
opportunity
and fruitful life" -
a letter to the

only

person who would fund his voyage.
Christopher raves about the
gorgeous fauna, the gold, the jewels

but forgets to mention
the people.
Well, they don't
have the country
now anyway....I
guess that's why

those people call it
THE DAY OF THE INVASION!

In every

walk of life there are
these people that are
lifers
to their addiction. Though it's
sad - something has to be said
for the dedication and
determination,
no
matter how wrong
and
harsh - Right Chris
Columbus?

The chains of the past

How long does
the white people
who are floundering

as it is,
wasting away
from the reality

that they once had -
the time when they
reigned

supreme -
now they dissolve
into the masses

of brown, and yet
they are still
expected to bare

the whippings of
their past anscestors
for the wrongs

they've done -
Slave trade
Capture of Mexico
Extinction of the American Indian
destruction of Vietnam
rape of the land

Oh yeah, taking everything
that belonged to everyone else...
i guess when they stop
doing it.
