Come Around Again in 2009

A List of Future Movie Presentations Coming to a Theatre Near You (and My DVD-player in 2010)

Maarten van Dop
Far off in distant Europe, I still have to take in this year's Indiana Jones 4, Iron man, Kung Fu Panda, Wall-E, The dark knight, Get Smart, Speed racer and The incredible Hulk. From what I gather, many of these movies belong among the best ever made! Heck, I haven't even seen There will be blood, Before the devil knows you're dead and Diary of the dead yet. And the American audiences will witness The mummy 3, the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace (22), Harry potter 6, Madagascar 2, The untouchables: Capone rising (2) and Ace Ventura Jr. (3) before the year is over. Don't delay, see them asap, because here's what's in store for you in 2009:

My comments

- The good news Yay! Genndy Tartakovsky hits the big screen: Samurai Jack & The power of the Dark Crystal

- The question mark James Cameron returns by way of Japanese anime, Spielberg takes on a Belgian comic (Tintin) and Tarantino is remaking what was originally an Italian version of The dirty dozen. It all seems sort of....appropriate.

- The bad news Blasphemy, that's what it is when you remake Hitchcock: 39 steps & The birds; and when you touch these, it will be assault: All quiet on the western front, The lady from Shanghai, Sunset Boulevard, The Lavender Hill mob, The seven samurai, Rififi, Straw dogs, Don't look now, The taking of Pelham 123, The man who fell to earth, The long Good Friday

- Think turning Sunset Boulevard into a musical was a bad idea? It just goes to show how low can you go. Worst idea ever: Raging bull 2 or Mein Kampf?

It's a cocktail of existing ideas and bad ideas! And then I still overlooked some. Of course, it don't exist until it do exist, and what already exists can't really be harmed by all this folly. There's already a lot of buzz going round for 2010, but personally I most eagerly am looking out for this one: Hollywood Golden Age 3: Shove it down their throats!

From Amsterdam NL, this is too UPSETTING for any one nation. KNOWING an UNDERSTANDING, it's just not the same thing. WRITING not for money, views or ratings, but out of sheer self-indulgence: well, excuse...  View profile
