Dave Anderson grew up in Chicago, and spent over 25 years of his adult life searching all over the country for the best bar-b-que. He spent his time traveling to large cities like Memphis, Kansas City and Chicago. Not only did he spend time in big cities, he also traveled to the Southern foothills of Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolina's, and finally to the huge mesquite pits of Texas.

In his journeys, he visited rib shacks, roadside joints and every hole-in-the-wall or fancy restaurant he could, all in search of the best meats, savory seasonings and lipsmacking sauces around. Dave opened his first restaurant in Hayward, Wisconsin, in 1994. Today, you can find a Famous Dave's in almost every state across the country.

Famous Dave's has been given so many awards, he doesn't even have enough wall space to hang them on. He has earned over 200 awards for best ribs, best new restaurant, best music, best take-out and best bar-b-que joint. In 1995, their Rich & Sassy sauce won first place at the American Royal BBQ Sauce Contest in Kansas City, Missouri. This contest is the largest and most prestigious bar-b-que contest in the world!

Today there are six award winning Famous Dave's sauces, representing different regional tastes. Rich and Sassy is their original recipe. Hot and Sassy is a hotter version of the original recipe. A spicy southwestern style sauce is known as Texas Pit. They also have Georgia Mustard, which is vinegar, brown sugar and mustard based. The newest addition to the sauce family is Sweet and Zesty and finally, there is Devil's Spit. This is known as Dave's "for adults only" XXX hot bar-b-que sauce, straight from Hell's kitchen. As you can see, there is a sauce for everyone's taste.
