Come Experience the Miner's Repose Bed and Breakfast in Rock Springs, Wyoming

It is easy for anyone to see from my writings; I spend a lot of time in Wyoming. Not usually a bed and breakfast visitor (um....never), this article strays from my norm of chain hotels and motels. I have decided it is time to branch out. Try a few new things. Step out on the wild side of travel. It is time to try a bed and breakfast.

Miner's Repose Bed and Breakfast Inn, built in 1940, is located in Rock Springs, Wyoming, at 716 B Street, which is part of the historic downtown area. The current owners purchased the home in 2005 and knew right away that the home needed to be a Bed and Breakfast, shared with friends and travelers.

Although this B&B offers only two guest rooms, the ambiance is one of a much larger vacation place. Eclectic period pieces with comfortable overstuffed beds fill the rooms, making it easy to forget yourself and your day-to-day hassles.

I spent my night in the "Henry Room", complete with an iron bed and an electric fireplace! The fireplace was great because one could turn off the heat, leaving just flickering "flames", making the room cozy and romantic. This room is on the first floor making it convenient; however, the bathroom is outside the room, something I found a little nerve-racking. I had the feeling I would run into someone I did not know in the bathroom during the night. (Surprise!)

Upstairs is the second guest room, named the "Forbes Room", after the owner's grandfather, a long-time miner. The antiques, period pictures, and bedding in this room are lovely! Both rooms go for the rate of $110.00 per night and if you can get past the bathroom being in the hall, quite a bargain. (There is a bathroom on the second floor as well.)

The atmosphere is relaxing at The Miner's Repose, the home is well maintained and one of a kind. On the downside, at least for me, the house policy is "no pets".

Best part of the whole stay is the breakfast! Okay. I slept like a baby. There is an outdoor hot tub (talk about relaxing), and the B&B provides guests with plush bathrobes to use going to and from, -- these also come in handy for the trek to the bathroom during the night! See, always a plus side!

Now, back to the important stuff! Breakfast! The owners are Tim and Julie Waters, and Tim has a calling for cooking breakfast. Being a native of Rock Springs Tim is a great host, full of historical points of interest about the area while whipping up the most delicious Croissant Berry French Toast I have ever had, (ummm, the only Croissant Berry French Toast I have ever had). There is also some sort of braided sausage brunch something-or-other that is to die for, plus the option of fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and hot coffee, OM-Gosh! - Breakfast was memorable!

Overall, I am glad my first Bed and Breakfast stay was at the Miner's Repose. Julie is a welcoming host and makes the experience feel quaint, cozy, friendly and warm. The Repose is close to outside eateries for the lunch and dinner hour, but the included breakfast made it a real hit in my book.

This writer will stay at this Bed and Breakfast again, and I recommend the experience to anyone traveling through the Rock Springs, Wyoming area.

My evening at the Repose has given me the curiosity and initiative to try other Bed and Breakfasts as I travel, but I need to find one that allows pets - Pooch would love the fruit and muffins!
