Froggy
I live in a fishing hot-spot. From my home the drive is not far at all to catch fish. I will give you a brief list here of those fishing hot-spots near Lebanon, Missouri. You can catch almost any type of fish you want depending on which hot-spot you choose. In the few years I have lived here I have caught catfish, bass (many types), crappie, walleye, trout, perch, and others.

Planning a fishing trip? You have picked the right article to read. Scroll down and see southern Missouri's hot fishing spots.

Bennett Springs

This wonderful fishing spot is only 13 miles west of Lebanon. Known for its trout fishing, people come from all over the world every opening day for a trout fest. March 13th of this year saw anglers standing shoulder to shoulder trying to catch trout.

Missouri Department of Conservation stock Bennett Springs with trout every day.

Have you ever fly fished? Want to give it a try? There are many experts in fly fishing willing to teach you. Jim Rogers is one of those men.

Bennett Springs offers lodging with both motels and cabins. They also have a beautiful 18 hole golf course just up the road.

To keep the spring stocked they charge a small daily tag charge.

Give Bennett Springs a try on your next trip to Missouri.

Lake Of The Ozarks

With a shoreline that out-weighs the whole West coast, Lake of the Ozarks offers up many breeds of fish. Bass are a staple of the Lake with major tournaments going on at many times during the year.

There are two fish I just love catching out of the "Lake". Catfish grow large here and I love catching them. The largest I have pulled out of Lake of the Ozarks was 22 pounds. I use mainly chicken liver or night crawlers as bait.

The other "brand" of fish I just love catching out of the "Lake" are crappie. They are the best eating fish in my opinion. They are a blast to catch too. With crappie I use either a jig or I run with a bobber and a minnow.

There are many other fish too. I have caught walleye, huge bass and I have even hauled in a turtle here and there. Have you ever eaten turtle? It is tasty.

Lake of the Ozarks also has many other tourist attractions including hotels and motels, golf courses, putt-putt golf, go-carts, and many, many others. Guided fishing tours are available also.

Yep, take the family to the Lake of the Ozarks; you won't regret it. Located just 40 miles north of Lebanon.

Pomme De Terre Lake

Here is a lake that isn't quite the "tourist trap" as Lake of the Ozarks but offers many of the same fish. Pomme De Terre is located about 50 miles west of Lebanon. They do have hotels and motels.

Fish that are hauled out of this picturesque lake are bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, musky, and walleye.

Every time I visit this lake, I feel just a bit closer to God.

Big Piney River

Do you like canoeing? You can do that on the Big Piney. You can also catch some monster bass, crappie and carp. I just love hopping in a canoe with my fishing equipment and floating a few miles and coming home with dinner. It is a very satisfying experience.

The river is about 40 miles west of Lebanon. It is just outside the boundaries of Ft Leonard Wood which is near St. Roberts, Missouri.

Come float down the Big Piney!

Fellows Lake

For the person visiting Springfield, Missouri for a short time and just wants to fish, Fellows Lake is your answer.

It is located just a few miles north of Springfield; this lake offers some bass, perch, carp, etc.

It is also a great boating lake and duck hunters love it too.
