Share the Experience of Bitter Creek Brewing, a Micro-Brew Lovers Dream!

In 1997 Bitter Creek Brewing was established and what a blessing that was to micro-brew lovers everywhere!

Located downtown in Rock Springs, Wyoming at 604 Broadway, this quaint brewery/restaurant is set up to handle any type of gathering. Friends, family or singles can relax in the quiet atmosphere while indulging in great food and even greater beer.

Head Brew-master Mitch Swelund has a gift! He has come up with some of the most unique beers I have ever sampled, one of my favorites being "A Beer Named Bob". To take a quote regarding "Bob" from the breweries website (www.bittercreekbrewing.com), "We're not sure when Bob rolled into town. He's kind of gruff, sooty black...smells a bit roasted like his appearance. He still has a sweet demeanor, but watch out - he packs a stout punch. To say the least, Bob has a very complex character." (This perfectly describes this drink).

"Bob" is surrounded by other great ales such as "Boar's Tusk", which is a light ale; "Coal Porter", a dark brew but not as dark as "Bob"; and the "Sweetwater Wheat", which is a light, cool summer favorite. There are other offerings, (the newest being "Wee Bastard", a Scottish Ale), crafted at Bitter Creek and samples can be had before making a final decision. (The menu provides beverage suggestions to go along with each food item). Soda, coffee, tea and choice wines are also available.

Bitter Creek's Head Chef, Tony Langi, has put together a fantastic lunch and dinner menu, as well as the "Burger Mania" menu. Lunch offers appetizers of Thai Chicken Nachos and fried Calamari, plus the usual favorites which include chicken wings and spinach artichoke dip. There are homemade soups, salads, pizza and pasta (the Chicken Cordon Blue Tortellini is to die for). Sandwiches include Reuben's, clubs, veggie sandwiches and paninis; or, one can opt for a Hoki fish and chips plate.

The dinner menu mirrors the luncheon fare except for added scrumptious steaks such as the Bourbon Steak which is a 12 oz. rib eye, and this writers favorite of Cajun Pork Chops topped with jack cheese and Cajun spices. (Yummers) There are filet mignon cuts, coconut shrimp, beer-battered prawns and much more to choose from. You just have to try everything!

The burger-mania menu is so unique this writer has, to this date, not found a comparison. There are burgers that need no introduction such as the Mushroom and Swiss and the Blue Moon, which is covered in grilled onions and melted blue cheese. Then there are more exotic choices such as The Crabby Concoction, which is a burger covered in crab meat, mozzarella, grilled onions and GOD knows what else! It is heaven on a bun! Mafia Madness is a burger covered with ham, mozzarella, pepperoni and marinara sauce. There are burgers with extra garlic and burgers with pineapple and bacon. The list goes on so please visit soon.

The atmosphere is friendly, family oriented, and fun. The walls are loaded with humorous beer signs, some bringing up questions about "A Beer Named Bob", making one wonder just exactly how and why this beer got its name. The hours are great, opening at ll:00 a.m daily, and open most nights till 9:00p.m. or later, depending on the crowd. The bar area also serves food so if you are alone and don't want to sit at a table by yourself 'belly' up to the bar and enjoy your visit.

It is my opinion that Bitter Creek Brewing in Rock Springs, Wyoming is worth the trip from anywhere!
