Viroqua is a small but historic town in the south west corner of Wisconsin. With a population of about 4500 people the small town has a warm and friendly atmosphere and a lot of heritage. Every year there are several main attractions in Viroqua but you can visit any day of the year and have a pleasant stay.

One main attraction in Viroqua is the annual Vernon County Fair. The fair is held late in the fair season, usually the second weekend in September. The Vernon County Fair is one of the largest fairs in the area and attracts many visitors each year. Many youth and adults exhibit their hobbies through animal shows as well as agricultural and craft exhibits. Food is plenty as are fun rides and games. It is a fair you don't want to miss!

Another fun summer attraction in Viroqua is Wild West Days. Wild West days is usually scheduled during the third weekend in August. The weekend is kicked off with a horse drawn parade through the streets of down town Viroqua. After the parade the Wild West grounds are open for business and bustling with the activities of the historic cowboy days of North America. Rodeos, hog wrestles and cattle drives are all part of the fun. You can casually walk through the replicated main street and stop by the saloon, parlor, bank, and even a Marshall's office! Another fun attraction in Viroqa is the Temple Theatre. The theatre is the center of the historic down town area of Viroqua. It was built in 1922 and completely restored and reopened in 2002. The theatre hosts singing concerts as well as various bands and other shows. It is one of the only historic theatres in the area and should be visited by anyone who enjoys theatre history. While there are several places to stay in the Viroqua community, the Heritage Inn Bed and Breakfast stands out among the rest. It is an elegant Victorian style bed and breakfast that will make a for memorable stay and you definitely want to come back again! The Heritage Inn consists of two elegantly decorated houses; the Boyle House and the Eckhart House. The houses are located across the street from one another just a few blocks east of the main street in downtown Viroqua. The Boyle house was built in 1890 and the Eckhart house was built in 1897. Downtown Viroqua is bustling with several antique stores, gift shops and unique cafes. There are several Amish settlements in the Viroqua area and several merchants down town sell their furniture and other hand made items. During the summer a weekly Farmer's Market is held where you can purchase many fresh fruits and vegetables and a wide variety of other items. Though the town is small it does not lack personality or culture. A visit to Viroqua will be full of fun and entertainment and you will enjoy the natural beauty of the southwest Wisconsin landscape.
