Jim Wiggins proclaims to be the last hippie in America. A gentleman in his sixties, Mr. Wiggins has years of experience in the comedy industry. His credits include appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Mr. Wiggins also appeared on the first season of Last Comic Standing. He was a hit with audiences as well as the celebrity judges; however, NBC producers choose not to cast him in the reality house.
His laid-back "hippie" attitude makes him a pleasure to watch. He can keep an audience hanging on his every word. He frequently pokes fun at himself and has many great jokes that deal with his aging, which evokes tremendous laughter from his audience.
Like most comedians, Jim Wiggins has an interesting past that makes him who he is today. According to his website, he would visit bars with his grandfather as a young child. He would perform for the patrons to earn beer money for his grandpa. As a teen he attended several Christian schools and also spent a bit of time in the Illinois State Reformatory. He went on to raise a family of five children, before deciding to follow his dream in Hollywood. There he made comic appearances, as well as writing jokes for other comedians, such as David Letterman. During his forties, he began touring nationwide with his comedy act and has been touring ever since.
Jim Wiggins's act is a bit crude at times, which may be offensive to some audiences. I, however, found him hilarious. My husband and I recently witnessed Jim Wiggins in action when he headlined at the Comedy Caravan in Louisville, Kentucky. I enjoyed watching him on Last Comic Standing, so I was excited to see him in person. He lived up to my expectations, and was a real treat to watch.
While he carries a cane, Mr. Wiggins mind is as sharp as a tack. He is well aware of his audience and interacts superbly with them. Audience members can quickly become the butt of his jokes. If you are not easily offended, I would recommend that you check him out if he performs at a comedy club near you.
