Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweep Set for April 25th
The 24th Annual Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweep will kick off at 9 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25th.
Since 1985, Clean Ocean Action, also known as COA, has organized bi-annual beach cleaning events known as Beach Sweeps. These events, one of the longest running clean-up efforts of its kind, assemble local volunteers from the surrounding community, schools and businesses to gather unsightly and harmful debris littering beaches along the Jersey shoreline.
Volunteers collect and record valuable data regarding the debris found along the beaches, which is then recorded in annual reports and presented to federal, state and local governments so appropriate actions can be taken to reduce litter.
For more information or to participate in this year's Spring Beach Cleanup call the COA's Sandy Hook office at 732-872-0111. Pre-registration forms are also available at http://www.cleanoceanaction.org/index.php?id=aboutbeachsweeps#c1036.
