Comic-Con International in San Diego 2010: Costume Ideas

D. Ilean
When Comic-Con International in San Diego 2010 rolls around, odds are, if you're hoping to get the most out of your experience, you're going to want to break out the costumes. Compiling a list, then, of the best Comic Con 2010 costume ideas becomes... well, a good idea. Indeed, that task is easier than ever if you read this guide.

Comic Con 2010 Costume Ideas #1: The Superhero

One surefire way to be a hit is to dress up like a super hero. Whether you attend as decked out as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, the last Son of Krypton, or the Dark Knight, you turn heads and draw smiles (and maybe, probably prompt a couple of pictures from dazzled fans). One important thing to remember: it is almost never possible to get away wearing underwear over brightly colored tights out in public, so if this is your secret (or not so secret fantasy) don't miss this opportunity!

Comic Con 2010 Costume Idea #2: The Action Hero

Hey, maybe you're too cool for tights. You prefer your underwear to be mostly hidden away. Maybe, you're more of a Laura Croft or Terminator at heart. Big explosions make your day. If you like big guns, tight leather, and really shiny sunglasses, consider going to Comic Con dressed up like an action hero. Do keep in mind: real weapons are not allowed at Comic Con! If you want to achieve this tough n' rumble look, you're going to have to spend some time building your (not too real) weaponry.

Comic Con 2010 Costume Idea #3: The Adult Cartoon Character

It surprised me how popular these costumes are at Comic Con, but... popular they are. Comic Con often features a number of adult cartoon programs (things like Family Guy, Drawn Together and The Simpsons), and a lot of people wear their costumes to match. It strikes a nice balance between the previous two ideas; it isn't quite as nerdy as the superhero idea, but a bit sillier than the action hero to satisfy the dork in you.

Comic Con 2010 Costume Idea #4: The Television Geek

Cute, bumbling geeks are becoming ever more popular on TV, and their appearances at Comic Con have become increasingly frequent. Hapless yet adorable nerds like Chuck's namesake character or the Big Bang Theory's gang of brilliant social misfits are therefore a good reservoir of characters to emulate.

Costumes can take a fun event (namely, Comic Con 2010) a whole lot more fun. So as soon as you set your heart on going, set your mind towards thinking what would be a good choice for you to wear. Use this guide for Comic Con 2010 costumes to give you a solid start.
