"Coming to America" Review

I have many 80s movies that could to mind that I absolutely love. I choose "Coming to America", starting Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and a host of others. I could watch this film everyday and never get tired of it.

"Coming to America" is about a 21 year prince (Murphy) of Zamunda. His father has placed him in an arranged marriage that he does not want to go into. He convinces his father to let him go and see the world. He chooses America, Queens, New York to be exact. He intends on finding his bride, hence the movie title "Coming to America." On his quest to find his bride he visits many places such as bars in New York. While at the bar meets an array of New York's finest women (I use this term loosely). It seems that the women is this bar are all emotionally unstable. On part has Arsenio Hall dressed as a women. If you have seen him as a man you do not want to see him as a female. It was the most hideous image I have ever seen but it was still hilarious to watch.

Eddie Murphy performances were great. He played the barber who has apparently meet every famous person known to man. There were a lack of customers in the shop so they entertained themselves with talks of sports. He give the prince (murphy) information about women. Also suggested that the prince (murphy) to go to a community meeting. This is were we meet two more characters played by Murphy. One is Randy Watson, lead singer of "Sexual Chocolate." This part was played well, Watson (murphy) was a horrible singer with a curl and a bad suit. This character was funny but not as funny as the preacher, who reminded me of every southern preacher that I have ever meet. They sweat every time they preach.

I think this is one of Eddie Murphys' best role. I highly recommend "Coming to America." It is funny , keeps your attention, and I guess you will still see New York is the same.
