Coming Home for the Holidays is My Ultimate Must-Have Christmas Gift

Not Your Typical List

Heather Blesh
When asking most poeple what they want for Christmas, usually you put them on the spot and they have to really think about what they want. The first ideas that pop into everyone's mind usually entail something material. This year, I want more than something material. I want to go home for Christmas.

Last year, my husband was stationed in North Carolina. We are both originally from California as is the rest of our family. He had left to go to Afgahnistan in October so we missed Thanksgiving and Christmas together. This year we get to spend the holiday together but cannot afford to go home for Christmas. I was recently hired at a temp agency for work. It seems no one wants to hire a military wife due to the fact they feel we could move at anytime even though my husband is stationed in North Carolina til 2011. So my wish list is as follows:

1) I wish that they do not place my husband in CQ for Christmas or Christmas Eve

2) I wish to stay alive through the holidays

3) I wish to keep my job

4) I wish to save enough money to buy a Christmas gift for my husband and child as a surprise

5) I wish to spend time with our family next year

I could go on to say I wish my husband had a normal job, but I love him and I am proud of him. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays everyone.
