Electronic Arts was present at E3 2006 to demonstrate the newest addition to the Command and Conquer library of titles. Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is scheduled to release on March 26th 2007 and is eagerly anticipated. Already added to thousands of wish lists and being tracked by many thousands more, it may be one of the most highly anticipated sequels.

Several trailers were being displayed at E3. The first trailer explained the story behind the game. EA will again be using the classic live-action full-motion video (FMV) cinematic sequences from the previous Command and Conquer games. This trailer relied heavily on FMV and told the story from the main character's perspective. The main character witnessed the transformation of Earth after the appearance of Tiberium, which is suggested to be an alien substance. In the trailer Tiberium is sort of a cancer, causing everyone around it to turn into Tiberium. The good guys, the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) was created to keep the threat of Tiberium secret until it could be further researched.

The trailer suggested that the Tiberium wasn't kept secret thanks to the bad guys, The Brotherhood of Nod. The evil faction is led by the mastermind Kane. Nod discovered that Tiberium could be used as a powerful energy alternative and attempted to discredit the NDI by exposing the secret of Tiberium. Once this happened the world aligned themselves with either the GDI or Nod. From that point on the world was filled with chaos. Then the narrator explains "they came".

The game play demonstration uncovered the return of classic Orca's and Mammoth tanks. Command and Conquer fans can expect to see many references to classic C&C play style. The demonstration was very impressive with a zoomed in display of highly detailed units within a battle worn base in the desert. With spectacular lighting effects and particle effects we're in for quite a treat.

Particle effects will play a large part in the game, providing spectacular explosions and realistic clouds of debris flying from damaged buildings. The game will feature three types of zones. Blue zones will be area's free of alien substances; yellow zones will be area's where Tiberium has begun to corrupt the land; and red zones will be completely infested by Tiberium.

The development team is still putting on the finishing touches with the AI and graphical engine so players will enjoy the fast paced action without any problems. This will certainly be a game that shouldn't be missed, especially by classic C&C fans.
