Comments on Confessions of a Liberal

Laura Seeber's article, "Confessions of a Liberal: Why I listen to Rush Limbaugh" started me thinking. I know a lot more liberals that listen to conservative media talk shows than conservatives that reciprocate.

The Fox and Friends morning show is on one of my most liberal friend's to do list. He often has to comment on one or two topics they have on the show. I enjoy the show because I am trying to be a part time writer. I note regular typos and grammar errors that boost my self-esteem. That would be because I rarely write anything I don't think could have been better written. It's just nice to know I am not the only one that can't type.

Well I can't just say that. It is nice to see an attempt to show both sides. The Fair and Balanced side of Fox is heavily criticized by Democrats, but there is an attempt. It would be nice for the Democrats to use the forum that Fox News has to make it more fair and balanced.

After reading Laura's article, I decided to try MSNBC to view a more liberal slant. Hardball just happened to be on and I thought to myself, these people criticize Bill O'Reilly? After catching the last few minutes of Hardball, it was followed by Oddball. Oddball was hilarious. The episode that I caught happened to have a video of a pelican eating a pigeon. The incident was videoed by a sweet sounding lady enjoying nature living in harmony when the pelican attacked.

I noted a few typos in the MSNBC banner while I was watching. Then flipped to CNN for another opinion. I can't even remember what I saw on CNN. I do remember seeing one typo, but I can't remember the show. That just reminded my why I rarely watch CNN.

I used to listen Rush Limbaugh, mainly during the Clinton administration. While I found he was totally off the mark a bit of the time, he was funny and occasionally quite informative. I consider myself a conservative independent, but the "Independent" part of my description was ruined by H. Ross' run for President. I am not a fan of H. Ross Perot!

I have attempted to listen to Air America. Yes, it was only an attempt. Perhaps I tuned in at the wrong times, but all I heard was continual bashing. There were attempts at humor on Air America, but by and large it was just whining and bashing.

Air America was accurately portraying the Democratic Party's national opinion. They are all basically mad as hell! Everyone seems to be an idiot if they aren't Democratic. The only way to truly enjoy Democratic talk shows is to be in such a bad relationship at home that the whining and complaining feels more normal or be a Democrat.

The few shows on Air America that have good ratings had good humor. Not just Democratic, Bush is an idiot humor, but real humor. That to me may be the key to talk shows on both radio and television. A little less Chicken Little and a little more Foghorn Leghorn.

Good article. I am no news junkie and like to think of myself as middle of the road because I can see right and wrong from both sides. Fox doesn't represent Fair & Accurate as they put off. CNN repeats everything until it is dead. MSNBC has it's pundits and idiots alike. Personally I choose The Week Magazine to keep up these days. It gives perspective from all sides of the story which in my opinion is fair and accurate reporting.

And you did this without bashing anyone... this was brilliant.
