Commercial Aspects for Horizontal Web Page Menus

Commercial Horizontal Web Page Menus - Part 4

Chrys Forcha
Introduction
This is part 4 of my series, Commercial Horizontal Web Page Menus. It is the last part of the series. In this part of the series, we look at the commercial aspects of the project. I will not talk about the way to make customers buy your code, or how to advertise your code. I will talk about the things you can add to the code described so far, to make it sell-able and competitive. I also talk about the simple things your customer will have to do and what options he will have to choose from.

Note: If you cannot see the code or if you think anything is missing in this article (broken link, image absent), just contact me at forchatrans@yahoo.com. That is, contact me for the slightest problem you have about what you are reading.

Your Role
Your role is to produce code for horizontal web page menus, without the links and sell to people. The reason you are doing this is because the customers either do not know how to write code for horizontal menus or do not have the time to do this.

Who are your customers?
Your customers are web site designers.

The Minimum your Customer has to do
As a minimum, your customer will have to create the multidimensional array. This is easy to create and you will explain that to him. If you understand C++ and win32 or a similar set of languages, then you can design a windows form (or windows forms) that your customer will simply fill with href values and link contents. This program will then produce the web page code including the JavaScript multidimensional array for him. This will make life much easier for the customer. You can use PHP and HTML or Perl and HTML for this purpose.

Additional Features
You can modify (add to) the code I give you so that the customer will have many options to add more esthetics (beauty) to the menus. For example, you can give the customer the option to have color or background image for each hyperlink. It would be nice if he were the one who designs his images or chooses his own colors. You can give him the option to have borders for the hyperlinks; this means adding code to the style sheet.

You can give him the option to choose background color for the rows. There are many more options you can offer to him. He can have the choice of giving a background image for the rows or table cells and even a background image for the whole table. He can have the option of giving the border to the whole table or to the table cells using CSS. He should be able to choose his own borders.

You can even add code for animation within the menus, and allow him to choose a particular animation.

As you can see, there is a lot that can still be added to the code to make it attractive for purchase. You can download the present complete code in zip form, free, from,

Download the complete code and try it.

We have come to the end of the series. I hope you appreciated it.
