There are all sort of dangers in the home that can happen at any time if you aren't prepared for them. One of the most common places for accidents in the home is in the bathroom. There are many things that you can do to help you make sure that you stop these accidents from happening to be safer at home.

The shower and tub is a common place for people to slip and fall. Many serious accidents result in a head injury as the person falling will hit the wall or floor and get hurt. This accident can be reduced by simply using a shower mat or tub stickers that give your feet traction to keep you from slipping.

The same applies to the floor of the bathroom once you step out of the shower or tub. Have some sort of rubber backed mat or padding on the floor to keep you from slipping. Bare tile isn't the safest when wet.

Make sure everything is secured to the wall and can be relied upon if you slip. Things like towel racks and other attachments should be firm enough to help catch you in a fall. Most are not very sturdy and break off the wall causing problems. Get rid of them or make sure they are very secure.

Be careful about the plugs in the bathroom. It's best to have sockets that will reset if they are overloaded to help cut off power quickly. Don't ever leave anything plugged in at all as there is a risk of them getting into water.

Whenever children are in the bathroom, keep an eye on them. It's very easy for two things to happen. The child can slip and fall. He or she might also get into bathroom cleaning products which can be deadly. Move them out of the bathroom or keep these products secure.
