Common Scams to Be Aware Of

Amanda Roddy
Who doesn't want to make money? Thousands search the internet daily for money-making opportunities. While the internet is a great tool, many of the so-called opportunities are nothing but cleverly disguised scams waiting to take your hard-earned dollar.

Sometimes the only thing that will come out of fraud is an inbox full of spam ,a stolen identity, and shattered dreams Worse yet, you will have spent hundreds of dollars on worthless information promising big fortunes. It is easy getting fooled by he hype.

Some people still fall for the envelope stuffing and craft assembly, but the majority of us know they are frauds. The fraud doesn't stop at envelope stuffing and craft assembly. Here are a few more to be aware of.

Email Marketing

This scheme involves an ad selling a list of emails for potential customers. Most of the time, they will promise you can make big fortunes by selling products using these lists.Sending unsolicited emails is a violaton of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2004. The act states sending unsolicited mails is a crime which carries fines of $11,000 per violation and possible jail time.Just because you bought a list doesn't give you permission to send the person emails.Only the owner of the email address can grant that permission, not a third party. Legitimate marketers build their own lists.

Email Processing

Email processing is an updated version of envelope stuffing. The clever scheme claims for fifty dollars or soyou can start your own home business processing emails. You can make up to twenty-five dollars for each processed email. What is email processing? Does anyone really need it? The answer is a big no. All you will get for fifty bucks will be a set of poorly written instructions about sending the same
ad you fell for to others.

1-900-Business

The ad may read something like "Call This Number! Make Money!" The number you will be calling is most likely a 900-number. 900-numbners aren't fre and the cost can be staggering. When you call these number, you are charged per minute at a cost set by the number's owner. They will keep you on the line as long as possible telling how to start your own 900 business and place ads.Never call a 900-number. Some 800 nuers redirect you to 900 numbers. If they do,hang up immediately. You can block 900-numbers through your telophone provider for a small fee each month. This will also block others from calling them.

Million-Dollar Blogging

Make millions blogging! Wasn't this one clever? Blogging hopefuls have spent thousands on promises of building a million dollar blog.. I cringe at all the high-priced products telling folks how to make boatloads of money with blogs. They supposedly teach how to sell advertising space to multi-million dollar companies. ost of you have probably heard of Perez Hilton. He started a celebrity blog that became so popular companies ere contacting him for ads pace. Not many blog smake substantial money like this so don't expect big money off your blog. The ones who do make make money work very hard and it isn't easy. Blogs are good for promoting affiliate links and contextual ad programs but not a stand-alone business.

Rank Number One In Search Engines

Rank first in Google! For a small fee, the pros will teach you how! What website owner doesn't want to be irstposition on search engines? I get emails all the time promising to make my site number one. Who are they kidding? There is only one position for number one.Not every one can rank first place on anything. Besides, you aren't the only person receiving these emails. These companies can't promise but they can collect money doing so.

Swindlers are constantly thinking up new ways to get your money.Just becaause some guru makes claims of aking big money doesn't mean they actualy do. Anyone can forge a document or write false testimonials. If you aren't sure of something, visit the following sites:

There can never be enough of these articles, people still fall for these scams everyday

Great article. There are so many people looking for options to work from home and it is so easy to get scammed. A few years ago, I inquired about a "data entry" position that was listed on Craigslist in my area and supposedly paid $20 per hour. They wanted a $20 fee for "training materials" and similar to the scam you mentioned in your article, your data entry job was basically sending e-mails and posting ads trying to convince people to pay you $20 to sign up and get worthless materials. Fortunately, I did some research and learned it was a scam before I sent out my money!
