Common Signs and Symptoms of a Positive Pregnancy During the 2 Week Waiting Period After IVF

Information About Positive Pregnancy Symptoms During the 2WW After IVF

LDP
If you are like most women who are in the 2WW after IVF; meaning the two week waiting period after in vitro fertilization, you are probably anxious about noticing symptoms of a positive pregnancy. There are some common symptoms of pregnancy during the 2WW that many women with successful in vitro fertilization treatment have reported. It is important for you to understand that some women who had a successful IVF treatment experienced no symptoms whatsoever during the two week waiting period after IVF.

Pregnancy Symptoms of IVF Women versus Women Who Conceived Naturally

Since women who become pregnant naturally normally do not find out they are pregnant or have any symptoms of pregnancy until after a missed period or after 4 to 6 weeks from the date of conception; your symptoms will not be the same as women who've conceived naturally. You will begin to experience symptoms of pregnancy (or none at all) much sooner than these other women.

As mentioned, women who conceived naturally won't notice symptoms of a positive pregnancy until they've noticed a missed period, have breast tenderness, morning sickness, and other symptoms. Just as with women who have used in vitro fertilization to attempt pregnancy, the symptoms they feel when the fertilized egg has attached can be different from woman to woman just like those who conceived naturally. Each woman is different. Read on to learn some symptoms that women who have had a successful IVF treatment have reported most often.

Symptoms of Pregnancy during the 2WW after IVF That You Feel

Some women who have had a positive IVF treatment reported pregnancy symptoms during the two week waiting period that included: cramping in their abdomen, a tightening feeling in their abdomen, some twinge like feelings to their abdomen, and headache. It is important for you to know that the headache could be a positive symptom of pregnancy after having in vitro fertilization or it could possibly be a reaction to the medications given during the IVF process.

Possible Symptoms of Pregnancy after In Vitro Fertilization You Can See

Sometimes the symptoms of pregnancy during the two week waiting period that can actually be seen include some mild spotting and vaginal discharge. If the discharge is yellow/green, has a foul odor and you also have some vaginal irritation; this could be a sign of yeast infection and you should notify your doctor. The discharge that could be a sign of pregnancy after IVF will be clear or maybe white and will usually be minimal. Another pregnancy symptom is night sweats.

Changes in Your BBT Could Indicate Fertilized Egg Attachment During the 2WW

If you have been charting your BBT; basal body temperature, you may notice an increase or decrease in your BBT that could mean the egg attached successfully and you may be pregnant. A dip in the BBT temperature is one of the most popular BBT indicators of pregnancy in the first two weeks after having in vitro fertilization, but some women also reported an increase in the temperature and they were pregnant. A significant change in your normal basal body temperature could mean a successful IVF sign.

Other Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy During the Two Week Waiting Period

It is possible that you will have some of the same symptoms that women who have had natural conception feel. You may experience some nausea and vomiting which is lovingly referred to as "morning sickness". In case you were not aware, what most call morning sickness does not have to occur only in the morning, feelings of morning sickness (nausea and vomiting) can occur any time of the day or night and can occur several times throughout the day and night. A feeling of extreme fatigue could also be a positive sign that the fertilized egg attached successfully during the first two weeks after having in vitro fertilization.

Reasons to Avoid Anxiety Over 2WW Pregnancy Symptoms

Try not to focus too much on the possible symptoms of a successful IVF treatment. If you allow yourself to be consumed with watching for signs and symptoms of pregnancy during the 2WW you could cause yourself to have anxiety as well as paranoia. Sometimes women who want to be pregnant very badly can actually have what is known as a pseudo-pregnancy. This means their body shows signs and symptoms of pregnancy because so many signals are sent to the brain that hormones are released and the morning sickness and fatigue and etc. occur due to your mind control over your body.

Also, it is not healthy to be so overly anxious as well. During the two week waiting period after having in vitro fertilization you should be resting and relaxing and letting your body rest so that positive implantation can occur. These symptoms of pregnancy during the 2WW are just some that a majority of successful IVF women reported. Your symptoms could be completely different or you could have no symptoms at all and still be pregnant!
