Common Steps to Have a Safe Halloween

Be Aware, Be Safe and Have Fun!

Halloween is a tradition that has been around for years. Many religious people consider it the devil's day. However, many kids around the United States still go out and trick or treat. Halloween is not bad in itself, but the people are what cause all the problems. This article provides information on helping you be safe and what to look for when you're trick or treating.

First thing to do as a parent is to talk to your children before going out on Halloween. Tell them to always watch for vehicles while they're walking through the neighborhood. Explain to them that they need to show respect to people while knocking on neighbors doors that give out candy during Halloween. The last thing is to explain that they're bad people in this world and if someone tries to grab them to scream, kick and run to find an adult to tell if they get separated from a parent. Call me paranoid, but all you have to do is watch the news daily and you'll see all the sick people in this world.

As always kids should always go out with their parents or a chaperone that is responsible when trick or treating. Parents should never allow their children to go out knocking on doors by themselves. This world has too many sick people that could do something without anyone ever knowing.

Kids should always go out in groups that way there is someone that is always with them. That in return equals more parents walking together and visiting houses in the neighborhood. Parents should have some reflective tape on their kid's costumes so that people can see them especially vehicles because going out on Halloween there are more people on the roads driving through neighborhoods.

Children love getting candy during Halloween, but as a parent you should always check every piece of candy when you return home. There are too many stories in the news about weirdo's putting razor blades and other items in candy. If the wrapper looks suspicious throw out the candy because it's not worth risking the life of your child over a piece of candy. Another thing is to monitor the candy that your child eats because trick or treating on Halloween usually means a lot of candy and you shouldn't allow your child to sit and eat candy after candy. Candy is not good for them and they'll get sick if they just keep eating and eating.

Halloween is a fun time for kids because they get to dress up and visit houses for candy. Always monitor your surroundings and don't go to houses that have no lights on or down dark alleys or roads without any lighting. If something doesn't feel right then don't take the risk. Be safe and have fun!
