Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina

Cape Fear Community College is located on North Front Street in Wilmington. The college offers online and on-campus college courses. Students can earn an associate's in applied science, associate's in fine arts, associate's in science and associate's in general education. College transfers can earn an associate's in arts for general studies. Students are not required to enter into a degree program. Rather, they can choose to take general studies courses for transfer to a surrounding college or university.

Extracurricular activities offered by Cape Fear Community College include men's basketball, golf and soccer and women's golf, soccer and volleyball. Men and women can participate in cheerleading. Academic guidelines and a minimum GPA of 2.0 must be maintained to participate in sports at Cape Fear Community College.

Prospective students can apply for admission from the official Cape Fear Community College website. Brunswick Community College in Southport

Just a short drive from Wilmington is Brunswick Community College. The two-year college offers various associate's degrees and continuing education courses for adult learners. The college offers programs in business, nursing and EMS. Many courses through the college are available online.

Brunswick Community College offers various after-school activities for students, including basketball, baseball and volleyball. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 to participate in sports.

Brunswick Community College also offers dual-enrollment for high school students. The dual-enrollment program requires an application to the early college high school. Students accepted into the program will spend their 9th grade year taking traditional high school courses at Brunswick Academy. Starting in the 10th grade, students are moved to the community college campus to take college courses with other community college students. The early college high school does not follow the traditional public school calendar for public schools.

Earning a higher education through a community college provides high school students, high school graduation and adults the tools they need to demand placement in the workplace. Students can choose to continue education after community college or apply for graduation with an associate's degree. Community college educations tend to be less expensive than four-year college educations.
