Technically, there is one Community College located right in the Springs. Pikes Peak Community College has several campus locations here. Main campus phone number is 719.502.2000.

Each campus is designed to carry a number of classes that can be easily worked into most schedules. Pikes Peak Community College offers Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), and Associate of General Studies (AGS) degrees as well as Certificates of Completion.

Here are just a few of the programs of study Pikes Peak offers:

Accounting, Allied Health, American Culture Studies, Anthropology, Architecture & Construction Technology,

With several campus locations, there are options for anyone within driving distance of Colorado Springs. Such as the Centennial Campus has a gym and fitness center, and a fitness center is being planned at Rampart Range Campus. On line classes are available as well.

A new campus was recently opened in Falcon to serve Eastern El Paso County and the Eastern Plains communities. There is now also a Natural Resource Technology program at the Falcon Campus.

Summer classes are getting ready to begin in a few days. Fall classes are starting to fill up. It is important to register and get signed up early for any classes you are interested in.

Another Community College in the Southern Colorado area is Pueblo Community College. Main campus phone number is 1.877.544.0744. There are several campus locations for PCC as well. The main campus is located Downtown Pueblo. This is such a nice campus at PCC. Well organized and user friendly. There are campuses in Fremont, Durango and Cortez. You can also take courses on line here as well.

PCC offers many classes for such things as Manufacturing Technology and many other Blue Collar Training programs, as well as standard community college courses. Pueblo Community College is approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education which approves certificate program.

Law Enforcement, Library Technician and Machining Technology are just a few of the programs offered at Pueblo Community College. It appears that classes are filling up quickly in several of the Certificate programs here. With unemployment at an all time high, people are choosing to update their skills. PCC is a great place to do that.

Great instructors and a very active campus life for both newcomers and returning students.

Those are the only two Community Colleges in this area. There are other technical training schools here such as Intellitec which focuses on medical support training and automotive, manufacturing design and other quick learning programs. These are set up to get you trained and out in the workforce with a year or so.

Colorado Technical College and Phoenix University are also located here in Colorado Springs. These operated on the same basis of easier to get into and faster to complete your degree program.

They are not technically Community Colleges but they do operate in a similar manner. there are many options for further education in the Colorado Springs area for people who are not interested in going to a big college. The Community College Districts in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo, as well as the other technical schools in the area offer great choices for anyone trying to get more education or training.

Some colleges have programs where, if you just lost your job, you get to take classes for free for some trade. I wonder if these schools do that...
