Have you ever gotten out of bed, just knowing the day might not go well? My day was minor compared to a friends' day.
When I tried to brush my teeth this morning, someone had already used my toothbrush. And knowing my family as I do, I could only imagine what they had used it for. The first thing that came to mind was they probably brushed the dog's teeth, cleaned the hamster cage, cleaned a ring, or dropped it in the toilet. Needless to say, I retired that toothbrush. My daughter house sits for friends occasionally, and the other day was "one of those days."
The lady decided to sell her upright piano. When the buyers came to pick up the piano, they hadn't been able to find a truck to haul it in. So my daughter's friend offered to loan them hers.
Everyone suggested they tie the piano securely, but the buyers said they would drive carefully. The buyers pulled out of the driveway slowly. They returned with the truck in about ten minutes. My daughter was hysterical listening to her friend recount her story.
"I knew they lived more than a half hour away and they couldn't be back so soon."
"What happened", she asked the buyers.
"Well", the buyer scratched his head, "it seems as though when we turned the corner the piano went one way and the truck went the other. The piano kind of split in two. There's a big pile of kindling and right beside it looks like a harp."
My daughters' friend said, "We could invite people over to play the community harp, although they may have to lie on their back in the ditch."
The buyer shook his head and said, "Yeah, but there's not a scratch on your truck."
