Company or Office Party Ideas

Adam Tapley
In today's stressful working environment, there is absolutely not problem with throwing a company get-together or an office party to keep morale steady. More often than not these little office parties can provide the perfect opportunity to get to know your coworkers or employees a little better, or to also rub shoulders with the higher-ups over some finger foods. However, there are a couple of things that you want to keep in mind when planning your next office party.

First of all, be sure to have the office or company party at some place other than the office. If all of the employees are surrounded by the things that they see every day in a work environment then the fun level will be way low. Instead, try throwing you office party in a popular restaurant or hotel. If those things are not available then you could always consider an art gallery, a theater, a day-cruise ship, city park, or even a coworkers home. Any of these options will provide the appropriate venue for your office party, while not making it a dull experience.

Also, be sure to serve mainly non-alcoholic beverages. In a lot of cases if alcohol is served and there is a coworker involved in an accident leaving from your office party, then the liability could fall on the company itself, or even the person holding the function. As a general rule it is always safer to serve virgin drinks at your office party.

Something else to keep in mind is entertainment. If a live band or DJ cannot be gotten for the office party, then at least have some sort of decent sound system that can keep music playing at a comfortable level for long periods of time. Another fun option is to have some type of activity or activities planned for the evening, which can include board games, trivia, karaoke, or even a movie of some sort.

Lastly, an absolute must for a successful office party, is to encourage coworkers to bring their spouse, a friend, their children, a family member, anyone that they would deem appropriate for that type of function. This will give your office party a much more relaxed atmosphere, as well as get employees mentally more involved with the company, giving it more of a family feel.

There are obviously hundreds of other tips that can be given on how to throw a successful office party, but I deemed these to be the more important. With the incorporation of these tips and pointers you should be on your way to a very successful company or office party. Party on!
