It isn't much better or different then the F500, so if you don't need the extra computing power, go with the lower F500.

The F500 has a 1.7-1.9 Ghz processor with 1 GB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive. This is more then enough computing power for the average user. Unless you are into totally heavy gaming, but this laptop would fare pretty well in gaming too with its great graphics card. The F500 is no longer in production by Compaq so you will have to buy one off of eBay. You can find a pretty good one in great condition for around $200-$300 dollars, now if you are wary of eBay you will probably have to pay more. A lot of stores on the web overcharge you for older computers, so eBay is probably the route for somebody who wants a Compaq F500

The display is great at 15 inches and the F500 is very durable. The F500 will run Windows Vista so no worries there. The F500 has a great track pad and keyboard, much superior to any Dell computer. Compaq has always known for being better then Dell in many respects, Dell computers also tend to lose their value much faster then Compaq computers. You can download the drivers for the F500 right from Compaq's website, so you don't have to worry about having the CD that came with the computer at all. It is the laptop companion to the popular Presario desktop series, that was one of the best selling computers ever.
