The Briefcase: The briefcase is an item that has been around for nearly a hundred years in the United States. The briefcase was originally imported from overseas because of the cheaper leather prices. Now the briefcase is a commonly seen item and is used as a status symbol of power, stature, and fashion. Briefcases commonly come in two different colors which are brown and black. The presence of a leather briefcase indicates that you are a man or woman of importance and that you hold prestige when you walk into the room. Many lawyers typically carry briefcases as they walk into the courtroom with their best suit on to impress the jury and judge.
The briefcase also comes in handy when you want to organize your belongings that are of importance to you. The briefcase often protects documents from damaging or getting creased inside. The briefcase also has a lock so that the items inside are sealed and cannot get loose. Briefcases typically have one main compartment for books and large documents while another section is for folders and loose papers. There are also several pen or pencil holders and another small compartment for office supplies that you can carry on the go.
On the other hand, the leather duffel bag provides for comfort as it is lighter to carry than a heavy briefcase. Colors vary but black is still the most fashionable for the everyday worker. Leather duffel bags vary in size and shape. Most duffel bags have a strap that goes around the neck or on the shoulder which makes it easier to carry. This also allows you to have an extra hand free to carry another object. Leather duffel bags range in price as well but stores prices have shown that duffel bags are slightly less if not the same price as briefcases.
Many consumers also state that duffel bags are user friendly because they have more storage compartments for items and can be zippered closed to avoid any of your belongings from falling out. Many department stores carry both the duffel bag and the briefcase. No matter which item you chose to bring with you to work, carefully consider which qualities of these items you value most before making your decision.
