Compare and Select the Best Storage Device for Your Files

Comparison and Selection | Storage Devices

In a day when media is easily transferred through people over the net, came the need for large reliable storage options. Storage isn't just for backward archiving and security reasons anymore, pretty much everyone will need it now and again.

Below is a list of the several storage options to choose on, including a fitting overview so you can compare.

External Hard Disk Drives

These are storage devices connected to a computer via a USB cable or other. External hard disk drives offer significantly large storage capacities, from small 60-80, medium 250, and super spacious 1 Terabyte and more (though I don't know what you will need so much space for)

These come in with different enclosures to choose from.

The disadvantage of an external hard drive is the very technology it uses to provide you with its advantages. Similar to internal hard drives, they are very fragile. Given their weight, just an accidental few feet drop, can be disastrous.

Flash Drives

This option is handier, and ranks second in file storage capacity. Flash Drives also have the ability to install operating systems and software, encryption, and passwords to protect your files.

Flash Drives are sturdier, but you still don't drop them intentionally.

The thing about flash drives is being unable to plug in enhancements like headphones, and such. Some flash drives may have little of this functionality but that is not universally implemented.

iPhones

Coming third place in storage capacity are iPhones and similar brands, plus the bonus of being able to uses enhancements, and manage your files via the file system an iPhone already has.

On the downside, iPhones are very mediocre compared to external hard drives for file storage, which is only balanced with its functionalities.

After all, you didn't say "storage device" to really mean "storage and usage device".

Optical Devices - Data CDs and DVDs

Optical Media Storage Devices rank least to the rest based on storage capacity and accessibility, not to mention being fragile and sort of out of date.

However DVDs are the cheapest option and you can just as well use a CD case, or Bag or something to carry them around safely, (if you don't mind the hassle, that is).
