Avvenu offers a free service that will allow you to access your home computer from any other personal computer or mobile device. However, there is a catch. This service is only free of charge if the computer you are trying to extract information from is turned on and is connected to the internet. If you turn your computer off or disconnect from the internet when you leave the house you may want to bite the bullet and purchase the $4.99 a month or $39.00 a year premium service plan. Let's take a look at the free basic plan compared to the premium plan.

Avvenu's Free Basic Service offers remote access to your computer, remote search of your computer, the ability to play music from your computer and it allows you to access up to 4 computers (office, home, laptop, etc) per account. and auto-synchronization of files. While Avvenu has several benefits such as easy file sharing and Google Desktop retrieval, it also has a somewhat weak security feature. Data transfer is encrypted and could be retrieved by anyone with your username and password.

Easyreach on the other hand offers a much more secure connection. This website allows the user to access files via web enabled phone, PDA or Blackberry. Easyreach also has an encrypted connection and allows the user to email files within the user interface. The fee for this service is $8.00 per month for one computer, and an additional $2.00 per month for each additional computer. This system is not set up for file browsing. Therefore, you will have to remember the name of each file before you try to access it. The high security measures with this service make it ideal for business transactions.

With Beinsync the users is able to use any Web browser to access files. However, Internet Explorer appears to work much more efficiently. The configuration of this software can be somewhat complex and there is a five folder limit. The cost of this product is $6.00 per month or $60.00 per year.
