Comparing Fast Food Nutritional Facts

Do You Want to Know How Many Calories Are in a Big Mac or Chalupa?

Matthew Schieltz
Since more Americans in today's world need food and they need it fast, fast food restaurants like Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Arby's are frequently visited to get that delicious food when you need it right now. But even though the food may be delicious and keep you coming back for more, this is one of the main reasons why some Americans are becoming overweight and obese. But on the contrary, this is not to say that those who eat at these fast food chain restaurants don't have any ownership in their weight problem. Indeed, people who choose to constantly pick from the many fast food restaurants available have a responsibility to their bodies to get the necessary exercise that it needs.

But nevertheless, I have reviewed Taco Bell, Arby's, Mcdonald's, as well as Burger King to see which of the favorite and most common foods that people choose to eat from those places stack up against each other. The Big Mac, Whopper, Chalupa, as well as Regular Roast Beef was taken a look at to see which had the less calories and fat, since those are two of the most important facts that one needs to be aware of when trying to eat right. And don't worry, I did taste test everything also to make sure it tasted just how it was supposed to be!

First, I took a trip to McDonald's to see what the Big Mac was all about. On this trip I found out that the Big Mac has 29 grams of fat and about 540 calories. I love the Big Mac myself and love it when I get to sink my teeth into that delicious Big Mac and Mac Sauce. However, that amount of fat and calories seems like an awful lot. I was apprehensive about finding out the nutritional facts about the Big Mac, but now that I do, it is what it is and I'll make my decision later about whether to stop eating the Big Mac. My next stop, though, was McDonald's rival, Burger King. Even though I like the Big Mac more than the Whopper, however, the Whopper must be examined. Instead of eating a whopper though, I simply asked for a nutritional brochure to find out that the Whopper has 39 grams of fat with 670 calories. Now that I know this, the Big Mac is starting to look pretty tasty!

But let's see how Taco Bell and Arby's compare to these two fast food restaurants. All of the nutritional information can actually be found on each of the fast food restaurant's websites. Taco Bell has their Beef Chalupa listed with 23 grams of fat and 380 calories. However, replace the beef with chicken and you'll drop 3 grams of fat. Arby's Roast Beef Sandwich was found out to actually have about 320 calories and 14 grams of fat. This is not surprising, however, because roast beef in general is not all that unhealthy.

Out of the four fast food restaurants, Arby's seems to be the clear winner with only 14 grams of fat in their sandwich! However, coming in second would have to be Taco Bell with their Chalupa. I was actually appalled to find out that the Big Mac and the Whopper had over 550 calories in each sandwich! That is sad, too, because many people in America love eating the McDonald's Big Mac or Burger King Whopper. But as said before, it is up to each individual to make sure that their body gets the proper exercise, and this definitely needs to be the case when eating certain fast food restaurants. If you love Burger King and McDonald's, good for you! But be prepared to do what it takes to offset the cost of eating such foods at a high rate of calories for your diet!
