Comparing the Future Demise of America with the Roman Empire
The Rise and Fall of the American Empire
Now when the Roman Empire first became a world power of its day she was a mighty nation to behold. She had an emperor and also a senate. For the most part this empire was a very strong moral nation. She had a powerful and highly motivated and trained army. The Roman Empire dominated the world. She had excellent sailors and had the most powerful navy of the then known world. The fighting might of her army was known everywhere and greatly feared and respected. So what went wrong?
From what I have read and looked into about this mighty empire I can see several things that went wrong with her and compare the same path to the American Empire. First and foremost was immorality and perversion invaded her citizens. The sexual immorality became rampant like a disease and decayed her from within. Homosexuality ran rampant which threw her even further into decay. The lust for blood and violence also permeated her inner workings. The infamous gladiator battles, the feeding of Christians to the lions, and the lust for power became as rotted meat, destroying the very fiber of this once fabulous and powerful nation. I believe the final nail in her coffin was when she hired mercenaries to fight her wars for her. Finally she was no longer able to resist her enemies and was finally conquered. But the fall began long before the actual defeat from her enemies.
Now let us look at America. I know I am going to stir the pot so to speak by what I am about to say. I speak the truth like it or not, and everyone has the right to express what they believe to be the truth so here goes. First, America was founded on biblical principles. Morality was the norm instead of the exception. I know that there will be those that say look at the history and how can you say such a thing? Simple, America was founded foremost on the principle of freedom to worship God. It was not founded on Freedom of religion that came later. The separation of church and state was put there to insure no religious organization would be dictating any policy outside of biblical principles.
Secondly, America has long since left that wonderful ideology and forces with in are causing her decay and eventual fall, just like what happened to the Roman Empire. Sexual immorality runs rampant, Homosexuality and other perversions are at an epidemic scale. There are those that fight tooth and nail every day to remove God from everything that has to do with America. What a sad and tragic mistake. Since prayers and the bible was removed from schools. Murder, unwed teenage pregnancies, violent crime, rape, students having sex with their teachers and the list goes on. I look at the millions of unborn babies that are murdered by abortion every year and I want to cry. We used to be able to hold our head high and say yes we are Americans. We are now hated by most of the world. They look to us for a standard and we failed them. Pornography is rampant in the country and child predators are on the upswing. This is almost identical to what led to the fall of the Roman Empire. I could list a lot more disgusting and abominable things that are happening in this country today. Everyday America's insides rot more and more while the moral majority sits on their hands and does nothing about it.
Finally, America does hire mercenaries now. This country has lost the stomach to do what has to be done to keep and maintain her freedom. It is an abomination when volunteer soldier's dessert, and refuse to do the duty they have sworn to do. We want our pie but let someone else bake it. We want our freedom but pay someone else to die for it. We want freedom but how dare we think anyone else would want freedom. All these things point to the demise of our wonderful country. God blessed this country but how long will He continue to bless an immoral and perverted country like this one is becoming more and more.
In conclusion I want the reader to know I love my Country dearly. I am a Christian and am heart broke over the direction this country is going. I am also a disabled veteran. I have served my country and it infuriates me to see what is being done to what used to be known as America the Beautiful.

Post a CommentYes America's current decline and Rome's decline are talking a very similar path. But many of the reasons you name for America's fall are caused by previous problems. Increasing gap in between the rich and poor led to high crime rates, and dissatisfaction in Rome and currently in America. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And as the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, problems will only increase. The "Morals" you speak of should pertain to that, not to homosexuality (who are generally according to statistics, not violent people or sexual predators). Sexual predators tend to come from Christian based households according to statistics or from the Clergy, the base of Christianity. How is pornography a problem? I've lived in several nations, and they don't hate Americans. They love America. The things they do not like about America though are that some Americans are bible swinging racists, who don't help their poor. The language and flow of your writing is good.
This is an awesome comment Nicole. Thankyou for conveying what I was trying to bring accross to readers.
I think this is a well written piece and as much as people dont want to admit it, this is happening and we only have ourselves to blame. Im not sure I would compare to the Roman Empire, but you can see the America that existed 100 yrs ago, even 50 years ago is falling from grace. We're ruining the country we pride ourselves on, people come here from all over the world to be part of what we all take for granted. We need to repair our international relationships and become once again the most powerful, most respected country, instead of what we have become, the most hated. Its sad to know that our ancestors worked so hard to get us to where we are now and we are ruining it. Americans are lazy and self indulged spoiled people. Wake up America before its too late and we let our cockiness destroy this wonderful, beautiful country we all call home.
If one can't identify themselves other than a "?" their comments will not be accepted and they will be banned and removed. I don't mind criticism, but I insist on knowing who criticised. This is only fair. Thank you.
mean no offense, but this analysis could use a lot of work. Trying to compare two very different nations separated by 1000 years of history is a difficult task indeed, and you seem to mostly assign what you see as current problems in America to Rome, comment broadly on the coarse of the Roman Empire, then come back and infer that America must follow a similar trajectory. Let's be more specific like: How do you know immorality became a rampant problem in Rome? If this is true, what exactly did this have to do with the Empire's decline?

Let's be more specific like: How do you know immorality became a rampant problem in Rome? If this is true, what exactly did this have to do with the Empire's decline? What should have been different? How/when did the gladiatorial games begin, and what exactly did they have to do with the decline of the empire? What role did the institution of Emperor play in Rome's fall? These are just a few examples of more rigorous questions that need answering. Once you have convincingly demonstrated the causes of Rome's fall, you can begin trying to compare these events to contemporary America.
Right on point and very well written. I served my country with honor too and just wait for the signal to take it back. This means morally, politically and fiscally. Our grandchildren deserve a decent future too. Things must change soon!
