Comparing Puppy Training Pads

Three Products - One Stand-out

Phyllis Cunningham

When your dog is smaller than the layer of snow on the ground, you cannot rely on them going outside for their bathroom needs. You must depend on Puppy Training Pads to do the job. This article will look at the three available brands in my local discount store; Hartz Training Pads®, Out Puppy Pads® and Huppy Puppy Training Pads®

Comparing these three products is really no comparison.

Hartz® Vs. Out®

Hartz Training Pads® and Out Puppy Pads® are relatively the same product. Both have the same blue plastic backing and a thin layer of cottony fiber filling. The consistency of the filling in both Hartz® and Out® is, well...inconsistent. I do think that Out® uses more filling, but at any time, you might pull out a pad with empty spaces of no filling at all from a package of either brand.

Hartz® or Out® can handle either of my small Yorkies needs in the middle of the day, when those needs are at a minimum. That is as long as I stay on top of it. However, on a hot day, when they have had a lot of water or through the night, these pads are going to leak through to the tile.

Huppy Puppy® Vs. Hartz® or Out®

Conversely, Huppy Puppy Training Pads® are padded with a thick filler that is quilted to hold the liquid in place. The backing is also heavier than either Hartz® or Out® brands. The border on the Huppy Puppy Training Pads® is wider for more protection from leakage.

Just hold one of the Huppy Puppy Training Pads® in one hand and either the Hartz® or Out® brand in the other hand and you can instantly tell the difference in weight.

Huppy Puppy Training Pads® can even handle the needs of my larger terrier, who is still spoiled to having a pad at his disposal through the night.

Price comparison

Price comparison among the three brands is negligible, with pennies difference between them up or down at any given time. With this slight exception; Hartz® and Out® are available in packages of 32 for under $7.00 Huppy Puppy® comes in a package of 72 for under $17.00.

It is more costly when it becomes necessary to double the pads to avoid leaks!

Huppy Puppy® is consistently more difficult to find on the shelf. I have not been able to determine if this is because it is such a superior product that is snatched up the minute it hits the shelf or if they are just not well known enough to be higher on the order list.

In Conclusion

Hartz® and Out® are easier to find on the shelf than Huppy Puppy®. All are comparable in initial price. There is very little difference between Hartz® and Out®.

Huppy Puppy® is a stand-out in functionality.

I bought these in Walmart Florence Alabama. I love these. But the walmart is always running out so fast. I have sent numerous emails to the comapny and they said that they only send so many shippments. And with walmart it was a trial basis. So everyone please tell your local walmart what a great product these are. Whenever I can find them I buy 5 or more packs at a time.

I purchased the pads over a year ago, only buying a package and then finding out that once the store supply was gone that was it until next year. This year I recieved an e-mail when they would be in the stores near me and I rushed out that day and purchased a yearly supply. It is inconvienent to store all of them but I don't want to be with out. They are such a superior product. Hopefully they will become a regular product and I will not have to continue this absurd behavior!

I bought a pack of the Huppy traning pads at our local Wal-mart (Reidsville,NC) they were the best that I tried by far. Had I known that they wouldn't carrying them on a regular basis I would have stocked up. I was working 12hr shifts and would be away home some nights even longer and they held up better than any of the other brands. I hope that they can get these back in Wal-Mart stores. We need our Huppy traning pads. I am currently using another brand from Wal-Mart and they just aren't the same. Wal-Mart please get this product back!
