I started using protein shakes when I had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago. When you can only eat a tiny amount of food at a time, it can be hard to get enough protein in. Protein shakes make the job easier. After a while I got tired of the same old chocolate and vanilla shakes all the time, so I started trying out other flavors. I discovered several banana protein shakes that I like and I'd like to share them with you.
BSN Lean Dessert Banana Cream Pudding Protein Powder
One thing I like about BSN Lean Dessert banana cream pudding protein powder, besides the fact that it tastes good, is that it makes a rich and creamy shake even if mixed with water instead of milk. Each serving provides 21 grams of protein and 150 calories. One serving contains only two grams of sugar.
Chike Banana Magic Protein Powder
Chike is one of my favorite protein powders, and I like all five flavors (banana magic, very vanilla, chocolate bliss, strawberry burst and orange crème). I like it best prepared with soy milk in the blender with a handful of ice added; the banana magic flavor is also delicious if I add a few frozen strawberries. It provides 28 grams of protein and 190 calories per serving, but one serving is two scoops of protein powder. I usually just use one scoop and mix it in eight ounces of milk for a total of 22 grams of protein and 215 calories. One serving also contains three grams of sugar; one scoop has only 1.5 grams of sugar.
Lean Body Bananas and Cream Ready-to-Drink Protein Shake
I usually prefer using protein powder and mixing my own shakes, but sometimes I'm in a hurry and just want something I can grab on my way out the door. Lean Body bananas and cream ready-to-drink protein shakes are great for that. One 17-ounce serving contains 40 grams of protein and 260 calories; it contains no sugar. If you're environmentally-minded, you'll appreciate the fact that Lean Body ready-to-drink protein shakes come in small cardboard cartons instead of plastic bottles, like some other brands do.
Oh Yeah! Banana Crème Ready-to-Drink Protein Shake
Oh Yeah! banana crème ready-to-drink protein shakes are another favorite of mine. They taste best to me well-chilled. They contain 220 calories and 32 grams of protein in a 14-ounce serving. Each serving contains three grams of sugar. I should mention that Oh Yeah! comes in some other yummy flavors as well, including cookies and crème.
