Comparison of Yankee Candles to Gold Canyon Candles

More Expensive Isn't Necessarily Better

While Yankee Candles are known for their quality and their wide range of scents, there is a less expensive alternative that beats Yankee Candles Hands Down. Learn why Gold Canyon candles might give you more for your money.

Yankee Candles have been around quite some time, and are considered by many to be the absolute best jar candles for your money. They include a wide variety of scents, last a very long time, and are very safe when compared to regular candles (candles not ensconced in glass jars). As a result, they have enjoyed a wide following. In recent years, a wide variety of stores have adopted the Yankee line of candles. However, there are other wonderful alternatives out there for less money.

One of the best alternatives out there today is the line of Gold Canyon candles that are very similar to Yankee Candles. Gold Canyon Candles can be found sold as fundraisers, as well as by independent dealers on-line. If you are interested in purchasing Gold Canyon Candles, you can locate an independent dealer on-line by searching via Google or Yahoo! Gold Canyon Candles come in similar scents, sizes, and shapes as Yankee Candles. That is where the similarities end.

You may ask why you should go out of your way to purchase Gold Canyon Candles when you can pick up a Yankee Candle anywhere. There are some very good reasons why you should at least try Gold Canyon candles. First off, they burn much more evenly due to the fact that they are double-wicked, unlike Yankee Candles. In addition, they tend to last longer and burn cleaner than traditional Yankee Candles. The best part, however, is the fact that they cost a few dollars less than Yankee Candles (at least). You are getting more quality for your money, and you don't have to sacrifice selection.

The quality of the candles is certainly on par with those of Yankee Candles. In fact, you could easily make a case that the Gold Canyon Candles are actually of superior quality when compared to Yankee Candles. Even if you were paying the same price for both candles, the higher quality of Gold Canyon Candles would make it a deal. However, due to the fact that Gold Canyon Candles are actually less money than Yankee Candles, there really isn't much of a choice.

As stated earlier, Gold Canyon has just as much variety in their line of candles as does Yankee Candles. In fact, Gold Canyon offers their own takes on of many Yankee Candle scents. For example, their clean sheets scent is very similar to the Yankee Candle scent clean cotton. As both companies continue to offer new scents, expect imitation on both sides.

Either way, candles offer a great way to dress up your home and make it smell good enough to eat. The jar candles made popular by Yankee Candle and improved by Gold Canyon are much safer than many of the candles that aren't ensconced in glass jars. Of course, you still have to use them safely. Never leave a candle unattended or within the reach of pets or children.

I won't buy GC Candles again! I followed the directions..kept the wicks short but they still smoked terribly. The new candle set off my smoke alarm after one hour. I took it outside and re-lit it to let it get started and then trimmed the wick down to a 1/4-inch. But it still smoked too much! The scent was strong. But I wanted the Forest scent without the undertone of candle wax. The best jar candles I've found have been at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I'm not much for the Yankee Candles but I never had this much trouble with them either. I did find out that the wicks for the GC Candles have a zinc core. Hmmm...not too happy about a metal core wick...they burn hotter then the simple cloth wicks.

Gold Canyon Candles are the best in the market.
Just follow these instructions and you will never have a problem again .

    Candle Care

Trim. Light. Extinguish. Extend the life of your candles by utilizing these simple tools.

    Candle Wax Remover

Candle wax spills and drips clean up easily on a variety of surfaces with Gold Canyon’s liquid wax remover. Let the remover soak in and clean-up is a cinch!

    Candle Wick Trimmer

Preserve your candle’s burn time and maintain its beauty with Gold Canyon’s stainless steel trimmer with engraved detailed accents. Untrimmed wicks can turn the jars black, so this easy-to-use trimmer allows you to evenly cut your candle wick to the proper 1/4” before each burn rather than awkwardly using scissors. The debris tray conveniently catches candle wick trimmings for a clean, effortless trim.

    Candle Wick Dipper

Simple in design, functional in use. Rather than blowing out or smothering the flame with the lid, use the candle wick

I've burned both Yankee and Gold Canyon candles and I definitely prefer Gold Canyon. I've never had an issue with black soot or a candle burning unevenly...but then again I also follow the 'candle care' guidelines and trim my wicks and dip them in the wax instead of blowing them out! Patricia, I'm not sure who peed in your cheerios, but I very much doubt that Gold Canyon is being hexed by the Better Business Bureau. Also, Gold Canyon is not a quick-scheme company that is all for profit. Quite the opposite; if you research them you'll find out that they donate percentages of their profits for specific candles to a children's charity and also breast cancer research...so I'm not exactly sure where the "D" rating comes from. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say you've perhaps sniffed one too many candles and it's time to take a step back!

Patricia, I took your advice and checked out the Better Business Bureau of Arizona’s website regarding Gold Canyon’s rating. I find it very interesting that not only is their rating NOT a “D”, this company is ranked with the highest mark available-an A+. Funny that the person calling a company untrustworthy is really the one who can’t be trusted.
“Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of A+”

  • These candles are not cheaper, do not scent as we 12/18/2010

The Gold Canyon cnadles I bought were not cheaper than Yankee cnaldes. The fragrance in the jar is good but not when burning. Did not burn evenly and smoked like crazy. These were the large jars. Would never by them agian. Fist time posting a comment that is how strongly I feekl like I have been ripped off!

DON'T LISTEN TO THE LADIES WHO SELL THESE CANDLES, THEY'RE NOT IMPARTIAL! GOOGLE THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF ARIZONA WHO GAVE GOLD CANYON CANDLES A "D" RATING FOR NOT OPERATING IN A TRUSTWORTY MANNER. GOLD CANYON MISREPRESENTS CHANGES TO THEIR CANDLES, THEN REFUSES REFUNDS TO PRODUCTS AND SHIPPING CHARGES! THEIR TANGERINE AND SPICE IN JAR IS NOT THE SAME SMELL AS WHEN IT WAS A PILLAR!!! I FILED MY COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB. BUYER BEWARE!

I also was really disappointed with the Gold Canyon candles! I bought a bunch of them from a friend that wanted to start this new venture, and trying to help her I bought quite a few.
Every one of them smokes terribly. They leave a horrible black soot all over everything in the house. The soot doesnt come off easily. Yankee doesnt do this. I hate these candles.

I have used about every brand of candles out there and nothing compares to Gold Canyon! And I love the scent pods, no more scraping or freezing to try to get your tart to come out of the warmer! Also there is a variety of fragrance options available beyond the standard wick candles:
Home decor, Pod Warmers, Oil Warmers, Diffuser Sticks, Fan Diffusers, Auto Fresheners, Room Sprays, natural cleaners, scented bookmarks, and more...If you are looking for somewhere to purchase Gold Canyon go here and you can order online --> www.mygc.com/carolynpowell

I used to buy GC candles in Mail Box etc., stores and at fundraisers. When they stopped selling retail I didn't know where to purchase so I tried Yankee. HUGE disappointment. I now only purchase GC. They don't blacken if burned correctly and if you burn too long & get black, the black comes off with a damp paper towel. Every product sold has a strong scent that lasts from 1st light to last.
I live in Phoenix and the bust was a raid by Joe & his boys that was proven to be illegals with fake documentation. Look it up before talking crap about a story you didn't follow to the end. I have a Yankee candle that I couldn't even sell at a garage sale so I use it to show the difference between Yankee & Gold Canyon. Gold Canyon always wins! My daughter has asthma and Yankee makes her wheeze. Nuff said!

I was 1st introduced to GC October 2009. I fell in love from the moment I burned a sample tealight that was given to me. Its amazing fragrance from 1 tealight burns for 7 hrs! GC has a 26oz candle which burns for 200 hrs!! You can purchase for 18.98 (plus s/h tax=totaling $21.83). So, YES! These candles definately are more inexpensive than "Y". 2 wicks GC offers allows an EVEN burn throughout. No messy side walls, CLEAN! I bet you cant walk back into a Yankee store and ask for a return within 90 days of purchase? You sure can with GC though!! Follow me on facebook to get more information about Gold Canyon @ facebook.com/gccandles or you can order online 24/7! http://www.mygc.com/brandyyingling ... you wont be disapointed! --Brandy
