Subtler than sobs
Tears slide down my cheeks.
More deceitful than lies
Sighs escape.
More enduring than passion
Love endures.
Longer lasting than blows
Words damage.

More enduring than passion
Love endures.
Longer lasting than blows
Words damage.

How true, How true.
The damage done by words can indeed last longer than blows. Bruises heal, but the echo of words can ripple through space forever. My poem "Words" grew from such an experience. Glad you kept the four lines Peter!
Words damage a great deal. Their effects are long-lasting or even permanent. Great post, Peter!
