Complete 2011 Oscar Winners List and Highlights of the 83rd Academy Awards

Candice W.
There were lots of 2011 Oscar winners at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. During the show 24 of the awards were handed out. Among the most notable were Natalie Portman who won best actress for her performance in "Black Swan" and Colin Firth who won best actor for his role in "The King's Speech." This was the first Oscar wins for Natalie Portman and Colin Firth. Each have been nominated for an Oscar twice.

"The King's Speech" won best motion picture. The film walked away with four Oscars out of 12 Oscar nominations.

The 2011 Oscars awards show opened with a montage of movies nominated for best picture. The 83rd Annual Oscars was hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday night. You'll find a full list of the 2011 Oscar Winners on the next page.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway appeared in an opening sketch that placed them inside Alec Baldwin's dream, which then integrated them into their own versions of scenes of best picture nominated movies.

James Franco was nominated for the first time for best actor for his role as Aron Ralston in "127 Hours." James Franco showed that he could multitask by tweeting on Twitter during the Oscars show.

Some of the highlights included Melissa Leo accepting her award for best supporting actress and dropping the "F" bomb as she gave her speech. Jennifer Hudson introduced two of the nominees for best original song. She showed off a slimmer figure in a low-cut red dress. Celine Dion sang "Smile" as the Oscars paid respect to actors, producers and directors that passed in the past year. Halle Berry paid special tribute to the late actress Lena Horne, who passed away May 9, 2010. The tribute ended with a Lena Horne quote "It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it."

Tom Hooper, who won an Oscar for directing for "The King's Speech," thanked his mother who suggested the story as his next movie after attending a screenplay reading.

"The moral of the story is listen to your mother," Tom Hooper said.

Jeff Bridges, who was nominated in the best actor category for "True Grit" presented the award for Best Actress. Jeff Bridges won an Oscar in 2010 for his role in "Crazy Heart." Sandra Bullock, who won best actress in 2010 for "The Blind Side," presented the award for Best Actor. Steven Spielberg presented the award for best motion picture.

The hosts had their humorous moments, like when Anne Hathaway sang while wearing a tuxedo and James Franco appeared in a pink dress and blond wig reminisce of Marilyn Monroe.

The Fifth Grade Chorus from P.S. 22 in Staten Island New York performed the Oscar finale singing the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." All of the Oscar winners joined the students on stage.
