Complete Multivitamins

If you have been taking occasional random vitamins to improve your health or vitality, perhaps it's time to try complete multi vitamins in the form of a daily pill or elixir. A total vitamin package can help to balance all your bodily needs to ensure physical and mental well being. Even if you are taking Vitamin C in the winter to head off respiratory viruses, for example, your body may need additional support from Vitamin E, for example, to enhance the way your immune system operates by more aggressively tracking and eliminating free radicals.

Complete multi vitamins come in many styles, flavors, and sizes. You can get a tiny colored pill, a large, white capsule, or a flavored elixir to take each day. The latter is especially helpful if you have difficulty swallowing pills. A doctor can prescribe your complete multi vitamins if he or she feels you need to take them to supplement your nutritional intake, or you can purchase them over the counter without a prescription. Someone who is struggling with a chronic illness may benefit from a multi vitamin, as may those who are older and perhaps not eating as well as he or she should. Pregnant or nursing women should take some type of supplement, as well. Some folks take vitamins as extra health insurance to make sure their bodies don't develop a deficiency for a vitamin or mineral that they aren't aware of until a problem develops.

Your complete multi vitamins will include all the usual range of vitamins. There are about ten core vitamins, including Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D, E, and K. Most complete vitamins include all of these, with occasional higher doses of Vitamin C or Vitamin E, and possibly some of the B vitamins. Most are not toxic at higher levels, but some can be, so it is important to check with your doctor before taking increased doses of any vitamin.

Many types of compete multi vitamins now include minerals, too, such as copper, iron, selenium, and zinc, to name a few. The body needs all of these in varying amounts, but you may benefit from extra levels if you have developed a deficiency. A blood test can let you know for sure, so ask your medical professional if you should be tested during your next annual examination. Some vitamin combinations today add herbals of one kind or another, such as grape extract, for example. That's why it is important to read the package carefully and be sure you know exactly what you are getting and how much you will take each day.

Complete multi vitamins are commonly stocked in health stores, supermarkets, drugstores, and even some department store chains. They are not hard to find, nor are they usually very expensive. But quality will depend on the manufacturer, so look for a recognizable brand when you shop. Be sure you are not allergic to anything included in your multi vitamin, and contact your doctor if symptoms develop when you begin taking it.
