Composting is Important for Our Environment
Take Care of Your Food Waste and Realize How Much We Waste
Sooo even if you llive in a small house or apartment or condo with no lawn you can get a small oderless red worm bin. I have had customers even take in neighbors scrap food waste for $2.00 a day. There are always entreprenuers amoung us :0)
Then most cities even have local farm markets or green houses who would love to have your rich compost , Or you can make your own redworm tea for your plants. Simply take 1/4 a cup of your completed compost add to 1 gallon of water brew and then water your plants they will love you for it.
There is alot of information needed about a red worm compost bin keeping your worms moist and cool but that is all for another page another day. Here I just want to show you your options.
You can also by a compost bin PLOW AND HEARTH has them available. No worms needed they are self contained and no odor , simply put your scraps in and when filled you have them in a neat bag ready for your local compost site in your area.
My point today is try to waste less. I know children tend to be picky eaters. If you have tupperware, rubbermaid , ziploc containers they make life so simple.
Make a pot of something then freeze or refridgerate each individual portion label who its for and how long to microwave it. This has cut out a lot of waste since we started this program in our home
Also freezer soup is a favorite in my home. My grandparents lived during the depression and had a huge garden until my grandfather passed away at 85. This was something he taugt me to do.
After each meal put any leftover veggies in a freezer container or bag. Put leftover meat in to if you dont plan on using it for another meal. Then freeze. Each meal do the same for veggies (I keep meats seperate). Then on Sundays I dump all of the veggies and 1 kind of meat along with 4 bullion cubes or broth whatever I have on hand into my big crockpot. and let simmer all day long. Then i serve it for supper with some great crusty bread or garlic bread. The leftoveres all go into labeled containers in the freezer for lunches or quick meals.
Well I could go on and on and by now I am sure you are bored. I am an avid cheapskate and recycler so stop back often, cheers
