The dimensions of the phone are 111 x 51.7 x 15.5 mm, this simply means that it is 111 mm long, 51.7 mm wide and 15.5 mm thick. The Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone weighs 109 g and can easily fit into your pocket or purse without providing any great additional weight. The touchscreen takes up the majority of the front of the phone in a similar fashion to most other touchscreen enabled devices in this category.
The battery of the Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone is called the 1320 mAh Li-Ion battery with approximately 406 hours of charge when not in use and has an impressive talk time of almost 9 hours and can yield around 35 straight hours of music playback on a full charge.
The screen of the Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone has a resolution of360 x 640 pixels which is even larger than the iPhone 3G with wonderful contrast and brightness inherent. There is one problem with the screen though, in direct sunlight, visibility is hampered severely and one may try to find a proper viewing angle without success.
Since the Nokia 5800 Xpress is branded as a musicphone, we could expect that the music capabilities of the phone would be marvellous, and it is in fact wonderful in this respect. It handled any music format without a loss in audio quality and also supports the displaying of album art. The music player on the Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone can also be minimized which enables songs to be played in the background while the user utilizes another feature of the phone. Many customers have given the phone excellent marks for its audio quality and this seems to be a major selling point of the phone.
Watching video's on the phone poses major problems since Div and Xvid codecs are not supported (most high quality movies now require these for playback) though this can be resolved by converting the videos though the Pc suite software that comes with the Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone.
The camera is 3.2 megapixels and takes impressive pictures while web browsing was fast and functionally accurate. The Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone can also be used as a global positioning system or GPS device and was noted to be quite accurate.
Overall, the Nokia 5800 Xpress musicphone is a bargain for what you get for the money, it might not create a revolution or set any new trends, but for around $300 dollars, you get a capable cellphone that is a potent rival for any other touchscreen phone on the market.
