Computer Programs and Software. Can't We All Get Along?

Chappy
I just had a recent episode that prompted me to think of this idea.

It all starts a few days ago when I finished writing a very long document on my computer. I was happy with myself because I finished it in less time than I expected. Next, was to get a printout. I did not have a printer at that moment so I put the document on a flash drive. Off to Staples I went. The reason why I did not have a printer is because I do not need to print many documents on a daily basis.

I get to Staples and ask for a printout of my document from my flash drive. He shows me the document before it is printed. The document was all messed up. It was not showing as it should be. My document was in word perfect and Staples uses office works software. I returned to Staples two more times in an attempt to print the document by changing the file name to rich text and another file name. It did not work. Still I was left with the unorganized document on Staples computer and a perfect one on my personal computer.

I decided to go to another store and she had the same program. Boy, was I annoyed! At that point I said to myself, I need to buy a printer. Why did this simple task have to be so difficult. So, I purchased an HP printer. Again, I had to buy the same printer brand as my computer. The printer was set up in no time and the document printed out perfectly. I was a happy camper! I solved the problem. It's just that I did not care for the way that the purchase of the printer came about. But, I am better off with it.

That's my most recent episode with programs and software that are not compatible. I have many stories to tell. It's just an idea but someone should invent a computer with programs and software that is compatible with all other computers, programs and software.

Think about it. We would no longer be forced to buy certain software and programs. The nightmare of resubmitting documents on new software would be over. Companies will save tons of money because they won't need IT's so much.

It's just an idea. Who knows, maybe one day.
