As you spend more time staring at the screen, it causes a lot of problems to your eyes. As eyes are a very important part of the body and the most delicate part, they have to be given the first preference.
If you concentrate more on just taking care of your eyes and ignore other factors then, the results are not going to be great. But instead if you try a combination of factors like, correcting the conditions at your workstation, doing some eye exercises and following right postures you will have great results.
It is said that when you look at the screen for a long time, then the normal blink rate is affected. When the blink rate is reduced, dry patches appear on the cornea which leads to itching, dry eyes and other problems. And to make things worse the computer which is a cathode ray tube attracts more dust and when you use the computer for a long time, you will come in contact with this dust, which will cause skin allergies.
Tips to take care of your eyes
- See to that the level of the computer screens is almost the same as your eye level.
- As much as possible use anti-glare screen and anti-glare glasses.
- Doctors feel that use of artificial tears is a good preventive measure, as artificial tears are preservative free and have no side effects.
- Do make an effort to blink more often; what happens when you blink is that, the tears will spread over the surface of cornea, which will prevent your eyes from drying.
- Try and use good ambient lighting at your workstation or at home when you use the computer. And also make sure that light does not fall directly on the screen of the computer.
- You must not face the window or any bright light immediately after watching the screen. Take a 10-15 minutes break frequently and look at a distant object every now and then.
By following these simple things, you are not only taking care of your eyes, but you will also have a pleasant atmosphere which indirectly keeps you healthy and increases your work efficiency.
