Conair Shiny Styles: A Review

DiamondJewelSpiritHeaven
Conair shiny styles comes with 4 styling plates that can be interchanged on a purple styling handle. This is not a favorite beauty tool of mine. In fact; I wish I'd saved the receipt so that I could return it to the store. The products are usually available at stores like Kmart and Walmart. I purchased mine from Kmart.

The actual product is not of the same quality or caliber of the product that you see on the website. The styler pictured on the website looks a lot more modern and higher end. When you actually get the product home it appears to be made of a very cheap and toy-like plastic. This honestly wouldn't matter to me if the product actually worked the way I'd hoped it would.

First off the plates are very small so they don't cover a lot of hair when you're styling. This creates more work for you unless you have shorter hair. This styler did nothing for my natural hair. My natural hair texture is a 3C. I texturized my hair and after that tried the product as well. My texturized hair is about a 3B. Again the styler did nothing to my hair. My relaxed hair was somewhat damaged from color and chemicals so therefore very thin and wavy. I had the relaxed hair when I first purchased the styler and it didn't do much to that hair either. I attributed that to the fact that the hair was so damaged and planned to try the product again at a later time when my healthy hair grew out.

I suspect that the product will make an impression on the hair if held to the hair for a very long time. But, the idea of that to me seemed damaging and I wasn't willing to go that far.

I'm not sure why they call this product Shiny Styles. Maybe this is because they're coated with ceramic; but I noticed no additional shininess to my hair whether relaxed, texturized, or natural. The kit comes with a small crimper, a large crimper, a star iron and a regular flat iron with a brush attachment. I didn't use the brush attachment because it seemed like it would be damaging to my hair. I was looking forward to using the large crimper and star plates and was highly disappointed at the style results. The indentation has never been significant enough to be noticed in the hair. I usually held the iron to my hair for about 7 seconds. But, even if you hold them to your hair for the recommended 10 seconds that won't make much of a difference. This is not a good buy.
