Conan Bugatti Veyron Mouse: The $1.5 Million Comedy Bit
Conan O'Brien is Spending NBC's Money on His Way Out the Door with Gags like the Conan Bugatti Veyron Mouse
Conan's explanation for the Conan Bugatti Veyron Mouse? With just two shows left after Wednesday evening, O'Brien says he plans to introduce a handful more bits and characters that aren't that funny... but instead just cost a ton of money.
Of course Conan O'Brien's departure from NBC isn't a new topic, however with his show in its final days, Conan is kicking things up a notch. Now he's not just bashing NBC on his way out the door, he's also spending a ton of their cash. And why not? He has a reported $40 million buyout for being forced out of The Tonight Show, and now Conan is putting some of that money to use.
Strange characters and odd comedy bits have always bit a part of Conan's comedy repertoire. They are some of what made his 12:30 am show so successful, while probably not transferring as well to the masses at 11:30 pm as NBC would have liked.
However, all viewers have to have an appreciation for something as outlandish as the Conan Bugatti Veyron mouse, which is simply one of the most expensive cars in the world with a big pair of mouse ears on the roof, and a set of whiskers on the front bumper.
All of the late night talk show hosts have been getting in on the fun. Jimmy Kimmel went after Leno on Leno's 10 at 10 segment, David Letterman has been hurling a nonstop barrage of insults in Leno's direction and both Conan and Jay have been talking plenty of trash at NBC.
Leno tried to come up and clear the air the other evening, but he's clearly still painted as the bad guy in this picture. While ratings for both Leno's show and The Tonight Show must be soaring right now, it is hard to believe that Leno is going to bring The Tonight Show back to a winning position once he resumes hosting duties.
This final week and the war of words and comedy bits that it has produced might be its last blazing moment. So with two more shows left for Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show, be sure to tune in to see the next $1.5 million joke like the Conan Bugatti Veyron mouse.

Post a Commentyeah, that money would have gone to charity otherwise... duh. there's this big basket of money, and whatever doesn't get used on the air, goes strait to Haiti. What a wonderful world it would be...
for the realists:
btw- Conan has been sending his viewers to a website where 100% of donations go to Haiti. 100%.
How about spending some of that money for helping Haiti instead of on dumb comedy bits?
Here's a love song for Coco!
