Conan O'Brien Makes His Move

Conan O'Brien is back in the saddle again and riding high. It didn't take long for the former Tonight Show host to land a new gig on late night television. Conan's many fans are surely surprised and happy to hear this new revelation concerning the comics career. The LA Times reports that Conan O'Brien is due to start his new talk show on TBS, Monday thru Thursday, in the 11 p.m. time slot.

Conan O'Brien Shocks Fans

It was a shock to everyone when the boy-faced talk show host showed very little love for the FOX Network. Go figure! Fans, and the media alike, thought for sure that Conan O'Brien would sign a deal with the Fox network and start a new talk show on the same network this fall. Then the stunning and shocking announcement that Conan O'Brien would take his talent to TBS, a basic cable network.

Conan O'Brien Tweets

According to Eonline, Conan O'Brien tweeted the good news to his zillions of fans that he was scheduled to bring his talk show to TBS. The bad news he tweeted, is that he will be playing Rudy on the new Cosby show! Also according to Eonline, The as of yet untitled show will air four times per week from Monday thru Thursday at 11p.m. George Lopez's show is scheduled to be changed to midnight to accommodate Conan's new show.

Conan O'Brien's Move to Fox Stalled

Variety goes on to report that the negotiations with Conan O'Brien and Fox were stalled because of issues concerning affiliates who bank roll the time slot. There were just too many issues rearing their ugly heads to consummate the new relationship with the Fox network. Variety also reported that Fox TV Stations, Twentieth Television, and Twentieth Century Fox TV would all take a big financial hit if Conan moved his show to Fox and took over the planned nightly time slot.

TBS had no such financial worries. They gladly welcomed Conan O'Brien to their night time lineup. The station already has a huge young audience at that time slot who are waiting for a new funny voice to fill the void. Adding Conan O'Brien would surely convince many young viewers to stay tuned and see what this late night comedy genius has in store for them and his new show on the TBS cable network.
