Conan O'Brien's Sister in "The Fighter": Who was Kate B. O'Brien?

Conan O'Brien's sister Kate B. O'Brien had a role in "The Fighter". So who did Kate B. O'Brien play in "The Fighter", and who is Conan O'Brien's other talented sister?

If you were as impressed by the casting of the large group of obnoxious, frizzy-haired sisters in "The Fighter" as I was, you also might be just as surprised to learn that one of them was played by talk show host Conan O'Brien's sister, Kate B. O'Brien. She plays Phyllis Eklund in the movie, a stern-faced redhead that goes by the nickname "Beaver" (but only those close to her are allowed to call her such).

Kate B. O'Brien is definitely a spitting image of Conan O'Brien (you can see her photo here), and, like the rest of the actresses playing the sisters of boxers Dicky Eklund and Mickey Ward, she did an amazing job adding a few great comedic moments to a movie about a very serious business (the wardrobe department definitely didn't give Dicky's and Mickey's sisters the Hollywood glam treatment, that's for sure). While Kate B. O'Brien did such an excellent job in the movie, it would be pretty sad to see her leave her day job to pursue a career in Hollywood. She currently works as a special-ed teacher in Brookline, Massachusetts, so it's hard to imagine her being able to leave her kids behind to be in front of the camera again. Plus she stated that the role in "The Fighter" was just a perfect fit for her because of her experience living with such a big family and being good with the whole "Irish Catholic thing". But while her entertainment career might be limited to one movie, Conan O'Brien has another sister doing pretty well in the entertainment industry: Jane O'Brien has worked behind the camera as a story editor and writer on "The Simpsons"; a producer on "Futurama"; and a writer on "Cybill". So it seems like entertaining definitely runs in the O'Brien family.

We might not see any more of Conan O'Brien's sisters on television or in the movies, but it would be great to see Kate B. O'Brien and the other actresses playing the sisters from "The Fighter" on his show in a little family reunion of sorts (I might actually watch it for once; I'm just dying to know what they look like in modern clothing, and would love to hear what Kate B. O'Brien and the rest felt about being so unfashionably dressed).
