Concealed Weapons Law in Michigan: Not the Answer
Do We Want to Help Clean Up Our Neighborhoods or Not?
I find this measure ironic as more and more shootings take place nationwide.
No one in any high political position appears to really understand the "real deal," simply because it "is not happening in their backyard." How can politicians clean up the present mess when they do not even take careful measures to prevent gun accidents from happening in the first place?
Okay, so they've added some guidelines to ensure safety -- concealed weapons cannot be carried in schools, court, day care centers, sports arenas or stadiums, churches or bars. Gun boards are allowed to deny permits to mentally ill individuals and convicted felons.
After going through the whole process of puchasing a gun, it would then become a requirement for people to take gun safety courses. This would supposedly ensure safety for the gun owner and those around him.
In all honesty, what good is this going to do when there are still children gaining access to weapons? Do we want to help clean up our neighborhoods or not? Do we really want to put an end to all these unnecessary shootings? If so, the only way we can achieve peace is to put an end to handguns and change the way guns are used in our culture.
According to a news special that I watched last week on the United Kingdom's handgun ban, the UK has made handguns illegal after two horrible incidents happened in their territory. This program stated that since this law has been passed, there have not been any more handgun-related deaths.
Gun collecting is viewed as a hobby in the UK because guns are primarily used for ceremonies.
Gun ownership is seen in the the United States as a constitutional right --- a way to preserve protection.
If people weren't so concerned with their "right" to bear arms, they would remember that I have the "right" to live in a society where I do not have to worry about being shot to death for some stupid gain.
America has to do better in trying to solve this horrible epidemic. Making a new concealed weapon law is not the answer.

Post a CommentUnfortunately Faith, your reasoning is flawed and you are unfaithful to the counsel of Scripture that holds harmless those who bear arms for righteous purposes. Read again about David's Mighty Men, and Jesus' commandment to his disciples to "sell your cloak and buy a sword". Read how God condemns the practice of the pagans who oppressed Israel by outlawing blacksmiths out of fear that God's people might make swords. So you betray several things of which you should not be proud:
1. You do not understand the Scriptures or the heart of God on this matter.
2. You do not understand the Judeo Christian foundation of ordered liberty.
3. You have a defective understanding of what rights are and your duty to uphold the rights of the powerless.
4. You exhibit cowardice by demanding the rights of others be suppressed by armed might of government to salve you irrational fears.

What a great idea. Let's keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens and in the hands of violent criminals where they belong. Better yet, let's hand out guns to violent criminals as they leave prison. Seriously, shall issue laws protect law abiding citizens and their family and are a deterrent to crime. Why punish to good guys and take away their right to defend themselves? What we need are stricter punishment for those who commit crimes, including the death penalty for those who commit the worst crimes.
in a civilized society, guns are for cops and soldiers. Yes there ARE a lot of drug related burglaries and muggings. Illegal drugs SHOULD be decriminalized to avoid this. There should be economic opportunities for the lower class and we should scatter the ghettos and trailer parks into the suburbs. Then there would be little crime

Despite your concerns regarding this topic, me and my concealed handgun will gladly come to your defense should the need arise. When you find laws that work to rid the streets of all the illegal guns in the hands of criminals, then we can sit down and discuss removing guns from good, solid, law abiding american citizens, for the purpose of preventing gun accidents.
BTW, nice picture of a knock off Colt Model 1911. Originally manufactured to fire the .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) round, this puppy will gitrdone! Among my many firearms, I usually carry a shorter version Springfield Armory 1911, loaded with 200 grain hollow points, for when you absolutely need to end the discussion in your favor. This monster will knock a bear on his ass! I love the smell of cordite in the morning. Smells like VICTORY! Sweet!!!

If you need a weapon to defend yourself from a criminal who will have one because he/she does not care about law anyway and you die because you did not have an armament as a result of adherence to the law...the law that caused you to die is as criminal as the very criminal who killed you. Cars are involved in death too. That does not mean that they do not serve a useful purpose to mankind...in truth though, we could save more people by limiting auto use. Legally owned weaponry is not our problem. In fact, legally owned weaponry has stopped many a criminal while in murderous endeavor. Ted Nugent just wrote some interesting information on this. If we all had a gun, the criminals would be far less likely to be active in their use of guns. More laws will not stop them, and it will unshield "us".
