Concert for Diana to Be Held in England on July 1

Diana, Princess of Wales, who tragically died in a traffic accident in a Paris tunnel in 1996 will be commemorated with a birthday party on July 1

July 1, 2007 would have been the 46th birthday of "The People's Princess" The Concert for Diana has been organized by Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. They have said they wanted it to be the "best birthday present" for their mother. The princes will likely appear on stage in some capacity.

While their is no final guest list regarding the which royals will attend, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are not expected to be there.

Performers expected to be entertaining concert goers include: Sir Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rod Stewart, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran, English National Ballet, The Feeling, James Morrison, Joss Stone, Kayne West , Lily Allen, Natasha Bedingfield, Orson, Pharrell Williams, Joss Stone, Take That and Status Quo. There may be more performers added as the concert approaches.

The acts in the concert reflect the tastes of Diana Spencer, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Concert for Diana will take place at the Wembley Stadium in North West London. The newly built Wembley Stadium is a spectacular stadium, which is the nation venue for sports, football and rugby. It is also a venue for concerts and other cultural events.

BBC will broadcast the concert, as the UK broadcast partner.

The concert will take place at the new Wembley Stadium, on July 1. The concert will raise money for several charities, including the Diana Memorial Fund. and charities that the Royal Princes are patrons of. Lady Diana was a champion of the rights of disadvantaged people and did much to highlight the plight of people living with HIV or AIDS. Communities affected by land mines was another cause that Lady Diana championed.

The Concert for Diana will support Centerpoint, The Royal Marsden and Great Ormond Street Hospitals, The Leprosy Mission, The National AIDS Trust and the English National Ballet.

Prince William is the Patron of Centerpoint, which is the UK's leading charity for homeless youth. The concert will benefit Centerpoint.

Prince Harry is the Patron of Sentebale, Lesotho, to help vulnerable, young people in Lesotho, particularly those orphaned as a result of AIDS. The concert will also benefit this charity.

Tickets to the event may be hard to come by. The first and second allocation of tickets have been sold out. The Concert for Diana website recommends that people check back for information on when more tickets will become available. Tickets, when available, can be purchased on line at the Concert for Diana website (concertfordiana.com). Tickets are 45 British Pounds.

The major concert event commemorating Princess Diana's birthday is expected to draw as many as 62,000 people.

The Royal Family will have a private service on the anniversary date of Princess Diana's death. The service will be held at a church with about 500 invited guests in attendance. Prince Charles, Diana's former husband will be in attendance at the church service. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the former mistress and current wife of Prince Charles is also expected to be in attendance at the church service. Many have blamed Camilla for the breakup for the Royal marriage between Charles and Diana.

The Concert for Diana is designed to be a lively event for the tastes of young people. The church service will be a private ceremony for members of the Royal family and invited guests.

    Great article~I'm sure it will be a wonderful concert. I will never forget where I was when I heard on the radio that Princess Diana had passed. So sad.

    I never was a Princess Di fan but I do think she had a tragic privileged life.
