Concert Review: Jerry "The Iceman" Butler

Bridget Ilene Delaney
My mother and I went to see Jerry "the Iceman" Butler in concert because my sister, Briana Delaney, bought tickets to something in Lake Charles, LA that comes every spring known as The Banners Series. She would have attended, too, but she was sick and did not feel like coming to see the concert.

I had listened to the music on YouTube and I thought I would enjoy it.

My mother and I got to the Rosa Hart Theater at the Lake Charles Civic Center where the concert was held.

We tried to enjoy the music, but it was difficult because the music was extremely loud. Many of the people around us were enjoying the music and swaying to the songs.

I only heard one song that sounded vaguely familiar and that I liked it.

This seemed odd as he is known for the songs "Your Precious Love," "I'm a Telling You," and "Moon River." The problem with staying there was that it was hurting my ears because the music was so loud. My mother and I left early as we were not finding the concert enjoyable.

We may have found the concert more enjoyable if we had brought ear plugs so the music was quieter for us. However, it is not certain as we did not have earplugs with us that night and we left so our ears did not hurt.

My sister got a deal by ordering sets of tickets for the Banners Series, but in general, the cost of attending this concert was $20.

It is not certain how much tickets to concerts by Jerry Butler cost as a website for his concerts cannot seem to be found.

Only if you enjoy this music and going to concerts is it worth it to buy tickets to attend a concert by Jerry Butler. If you prefer only hearing his music, it is better to stay home and listen to the music.

I've never heard of Jerry Butler, but any music that's played too loud will chase me away pretty fast. A little less noise, please!

Sometimes it's just as nice to sit at home and enjoy the music on CD!
