Concert Under the Stars Helps Raise Funds for Charities

We attended Herb Hafif's Concert Under the Stars in Laverne to help Sacred Heart Catholic School raise funds via the Family Staff Support Association (FSSA). The event was heavily promoted during the Parish School Picnic where the majority of the tickets were sold.

FSSA received 100% of all funds received from the tickets sold for the concert which will be used to help supply needed teaching aids and other classroom equipment for the students. At $55/ticket, we enjoyed an inclusive night of appetizers, choice of salmon or lemon chicken, and an enormous chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The menu was impressive and was served under tents and canopies just above the stage and table seating.

The night was made complete by the rich Latin/Jazz sounds of April Sweeney & Susie Hansen. Music filled the outdoor arena and the setting allowed room even for about 30-50 people to show off their dance moves on the dance floor.

Besides the incredible musical entertainment, testimonials were given by a father who's charity & disabled son was helped by Hafif's contributions. Greg Hafif (son of Herb) and Herb Hafif himself also shared a few words to elaborate on his motivation to coordinate such a huge event.

Over 1300 members of various organized charities, sat on white linen covered tables, complete with mood lighting interspersed throughout the incredible 150 Acre property of Herb Hafif. Herb Hafif is an infamous trial lawyer responsible for cases like the standardization of mandatory use of seat belts in vehicles. He has chosen to share his wealth and give back to the community via this annual concert fundraiser.

It was amazing to learn about this multi-millionaire lawyer who has single handedly chosen to empower charities. Instead of merely distributing handouts, Hafif turns the potential to raise unlimited funds for individual charities through ticket sales. This differentiates Hafif from all other philanthropists. His method enables others to work and create an advocacy for the various organizations rather than simply giving away handouts. By selling tickets for his yearly Concert Under the Stars, charities succeed and the benefits flow to those in need. The Concert has been ongoing for the past 5 years.

Sacred Heart Families that supported FSSA through their attendance that evening included The Rawsons, Capalbos, Plazas, Peraltas, Lopez, Gormans, Dawsons. FSSA hopes to double the ticket sales for the next annual Concert Under the Stars.
