Since I was in the area, I took him to Concord Veterinary Services. I warned them that the kitten was completely wild and to be careful with him. They didn't believe me at first because the kitten was only eight weeks old.
When the veterinarian entered the room, she quickly realized that the cat was out of control. She put on very thick gloves that went up to her elbows. After she examined the kitten and gave me medicine for him, she proceeded to chew me out for the kitten being wild.
I told her that the kitten wasn't born at my house. How could it be my fault when I had the kitten for only one day? She accused me of lying and told me never to return there again with another animal that wild. I replied it was a non-issue because I was never coming there again period.
It was a very upsetting experience because I wasn't the type of person that she thought. It was even worse because I'd lost a good friend over taking the cat and two kittens away from him for not fixing the cat before she got pregnant. I didn't deserve to be accused of doing something wrong when I had actually done the exact opposite. Not to mention that I took the kitten immediately to the vet upon realizing it was sick.
In speaking with another friend's mother, I learned that this was actually the norm for this veterinarian to act this way. My friend's mother told me that the veterinarian at Concord Veterinary Services made her feel guilty for choosing to use hairball remedy instead of opting for surgery on a dog that had swallowed an eraser and got an obstruction from it. The hairball remedy worked, the dog passed the eraser. And another example I was given was of her fussing at some people for choosing euthanasia because they couldn't afford cancer treatment that was thousands of dollars. Then the veterinarian cried as she put down the dog.
It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my bad experience with the veterinarian at Concord Veterinary Services. A lot of people don't even take their pets to the vet. What does she really expect to happen if that attitude is what people are faced with who do take their pets to the veterinarian? I don't know about her, but every time I see someone in a veterinarian's office with their pet, I feel like thanking them for doing the right thing.

Post a CommentMy several encounter's with Dr.Leonard have been mixed, she seem's to be quite the control type person with little tolerence or empathy for the poorer person.I had one cat put down there and she did not allow my wife and I to take home the body to bury, saying she was concerned about rabie's although there was no apparant reason My wife or I could see to be! We just took another cat, an injured stray, and the concern seemed to be, filling out forms ans documenting ownership...I think Dr Leonard lives in that 10% elite wealthy class, that presume's everyone has money, and if you don't you should not have a pet! As thing's stand she want's us to save this cat,(which were willing to do) and has set up a future operation to remove it's tail get it fixed, and proper shot's,all which make her money and put my wife and I further in the poor house! We are simply trying to retire, live on a fixed budget, I'm a disabled Vet and my wife also has health iss
My experience with Dr. Leonard has been just the opposite. I too had a cat that was very ill. We did several treatments on her and nothing worked. We then talked about my options for the cat and I chose to put her down. Dr. Leonard gave me a place in the back where I could sit with my cat and talk to her until I was ready to leave. I chose to have a necropsy done on my cat to see if there was anything else I could have done for her. When I returned to pick up the remains, Dr. Leonard explained that I had done the right thing because my cat was eaten up with cancer inside. They had packaged her remains in a box for me so I could bury her at home. Dr. Leonard hugged me and said how sorry she was. A few days later I received a very nice Sympathy card from her. This isn't the only time this office and the vet have shown compassion and sympathy for me and my family. It's much nicer than going to another vet in Appomattox who makes you pay before they'll even look at your animal
Yes.
I once heard about Leanard at that vet's office, is that the one?
it sounds like that lady is intolerant of people!
