Condemned 2: Bloodshot Review (PS3)

S.R.
Condemned 2: Bloodshot is an Action game released on Playstation 3 and developed by Monolith Productions. The game is more slanted towards horror, like many recent games, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you're into brutal games, this is right up your alley. Let's look at the details a bit more.

Story : The story is simple, which is a good thing because the main point of the game isn't really the story. However, it should be noted that all the characters and the story itself are very well done and developed within the game well. The story really augments the atmosphere of the game. My only gripe is the story of the game feels incomplete. There's your warning.

Graphics : Monolith Productions deserves serious praise for the amount of work they put in to these environments. They really did an excellent job of creating a whole new atmosphere for the player, a world you can really get lost it. Still, I can't help but feel that the graphics here are just a little bit below other games of it's time. Still, the graphics are quite amazing and still serve the game well. I found no graphical glitches in my play through.

Sound : Musically, this game is decent. The sound effects however, are off the charts. Among the best games I've played, sound wise. Everything here sounds great and is very immerse, it makes you feel as if you're actually there.

Game play : The game is totally immersive and atmosphere, and you will probably get your wits scared out of you if you play this in the dark. It's not the scariest game out there, but it still does a great job. The controls are good enough. This game sort of plays like a first person shooter, it's based on close range attacks! It's always exhilarating to run close to the opponent and unleash your fury. Attacking with long range weapons feels a bit too safe and boring after playing this game for awhile.

It's kind of a boxing game but a first person shooter, is the best way I can describe it. While punching sounds like it can get boring, the fighting system is actually quite elaborate and rewards you for combos and different types of punches. There are guns in this game, but I prefer not to use them as they basically turn this game into every other first person shooter with a horror theme.

Re playability : The game unfortunately isn't re playable, and I haven't had any desire at all to play it since I beat it.

Overall : 7/10. Really solid game that deserves a play, but you should probably rent this one instead of buy it.
