Condoleezza Rice and Aretha Franklin Team Up for a Worthy Cause

But They're Not the Only Ones!

Music is such an inspiring part of society. It brings pleasure to our ears, and often unites us when other circumstances cannot. On Wednesday, July 28, in Philadelphia, Condoleezza Rice and Aretha Frank joined together to perform in honor of music education, raising a whopping $582,000.

Aretha Franklin used her outstanding vocal pipes, while Condoleezza Ride played the piano along with her. Now, thanks to those two lovely women, inner-city kids will be able to expand their love and learning of music.

Franklin and Rice are not the only singer and politician to join together, though. Rush Limbaugh, not your typical politician, but a radio personality with a political opinions, had Elton John Sing at his wedding. John charged Rush Limbaugh a fee of $1 million to perform at the wedding. The money then went to John's charity benefitting AIDS patients. The strange thing was that Limbaugh has openly spoken about not really thinking AIDS is a big deal. Nonetheless, the fee John charged Limbaugh still went to a good cause.

Another impressive entertainer and politician team was the combination of President Obama, Bruce Springstein, and Billy Joel. Obama led the crowd as he sang along to the band Arcade Fire's song "Rebellion." It is truly laudable when a president can get involved in such a fun way of promoting himself. This is great, considering how stiff former President Bush could be during his time in office.

Artists and politicians coming together to benefit a good cause or promote something is a great idea. Not only is it a selfless act, but it is also a way to gain nationwide, if not worldwide, attention. Everyone loves music. We may not all love the same kind of music style, but we can all agree that there is some type of music that gets our feet tapping.

It is nice to see people coming together in support of a cause greater than themselves. Society can be so selfish, and a lot of people forget about the issues that really need attention. Hopefully in the future, more people in the music industry and politics can work together. These are two very essential topics that glue our nation together. It is about time that these highly regarded performers and political faces learn how to use their influence for the benefit of something good. When so much scandal and worry is often upon us, it is more important now than ever that we unify.

It is refreshing to know that differences can be set aside for a greater cause. Having been a receipient of many years of violin I know the importance that it provides for many children in the inner cities. Great job.

Condi Rice told the 9/11 Commission and the 9/11 Widows under oath that the "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US" memo was not a warning. It warned of preparations for hijackings and planned attacks in the US.

On July 10, 2001, CIA director George Tenet warned Condi that al Qaeda attacks were coming in the next few weeks. Later he said acting on those warnings might have prevented 9/11. Cofer Black said "The only thing we didn't do was pull the trigger to the gun we were holding to her head."

The UK, Germany, Italy, and Egypt warned of aircraft as weapons; Russia of suicide pilots; Jordan and the Cayman Islands of attacks involving airlines. 13 foreign countries and 3 FBI offices warned. Israel warned of 19 terrorists plotting inside the USA, and named at least 4 of the alleged hijackers.

The German press reported that the August 6 PDB was actually 11-1/2 pages long, not the 1-1/2 pages we've seen.
